I swear SOMETHING broke in society since 2020 and nobody wants to talk about it.
And Iโm not talking about masks, lockdowns, or COVID. I mean the FEELING of life.
Everything reopened. We went back to work. Restaurants filled up. Events came back. But somehow life still feelsโฆ different.
Years disappear faster. People feel more disconnected. Everything feels more expensive, stressful & rushed.
And somehow weโre all constantly exhausted. I canโt even explain exactly what we lost. I just know life before 2020 felt more ALIVE.
Tell me Iโm not the only one who feels this.

The Staffing Crisis Starts Between Calls: ow.ly/Crjm50ZYNgn
Every conversation about EMS workforce development eventually arrives at the same conclusion: recruitment alone will not solve this. The field is competing for a shrinking pool of candidates willing to do extraordinarily difficult work, often for compensation that has historically lagged behind the difficulty.
Getting people in the door is necessary. It is not sufficient.
Retention is the leverage. And retention begins in the ordinary hours, in the moments nobody is tracking. This is where new providers are deciding, often without consciously knowing theyโre deciding, whether this work is somewhere they can build a life.
What doesnโt show up in vacancy rates or turnover reports is the accumulation of smaller failures that preceded each departure.
The rotation schedule that broke a pairing before it could become something. The kitchen table where a new EMT sat alone because everyone else had already formed their orbits.
The preceptor relationship that was clinically sound and humanly empty. The first difficult call where nobody followed up because following up wasnโt in the protocol.
Those are not staffing failures. They are culture failures. And culture is built, or abandoned, by leaders who decide whether the ordinary hours matter.

Mamdani and NYC's city council have decided to ban horse carriages in Central Park, citing the death this summer of a horse. In other news, 51 horses have died at race tracks across New York this year, and nobody is talking about banning horse racing. Point: Mamdani is an idiot.

Let me correct @GovKathyHochul: New Yorkers canโt afford their utility bills because she took nuclear offline to create a โcrisisโ that she pitches solar/wind as a fix to.
Since solar and wind canโt stand on its own in an open market in New York State, weโre paying to subsidize the money laundering through ORES.
The delivery charges on your electric bills are used to fund these solar and wind companies in the form of RECs.

Pioneer Rd in the Town of Groveland between State Route 63 and State Route 36 will be closed due to a tractor trailer blocking both lanes.
Mayor Debbie Padoleski said the Village of Medina made $300,000 in revenue by selling a fire truck that didn't fit in the village's firehouse.
The village is also asking three surrounding towns to make a substantial increase in the amount they pay Medina for ambulance service.

After Invenergy punctured the aquifer in Rush, NY drilling for Horseshoe Solar, six homes were immediately without water near the project site.
The solar company hit the aquifer February 2026. Around 50-100 gallons of water gushed from the entry point, per minute, as documented on the ORES docket.
Invenergy swore to the residents they would make right on destroying their water with hauled-in water totes.
Yesterday, at the ORES roundtable, it was shared that Invenergy has not made good on that promise. The homes without water are being left to fend for themselves.
Since New York State completely protects the solar and wind developers, the state has not acknowledged the property damage sustained by those trying to survive in Upstate NY.
This is an abomination. Something must be done.

You're looking at a drone shot of Byron, New York, where thousands of acres of solar panels have swallowed up a county that boasts the MOST amount of productive agricultural land in the entire state.
This is only a portion of the panels that have been anchored into Byron for Excelsior Solar.
With the newly announced Brusselville Solar on the ORES docket, this aerial view will only encompass a fraction of the total solar footprint.
Those responsible for this must be held accountable. This video should be on NATIONAL news.
We are going to lose our state and the land that feeds us very quickly if there is not immediate intervention.
This is dystopian, anti-human, catastrophic to wildlife, a direct threat to our future food autonomy, and the largest land grab of our American lifetimes from generational landowners to foreign corporations.
