Yesterday’s hyperscaler selloff looked like a verdict. Read the actual earnings data and it looks like something else: a sentiment shift dressed as a fundamental one.
The dip case: 👇
Start with what got sold: $MSFT $AMZN $GOOGL $META just posted combined trailing capex of $202 BILLION, a record, and guided another $160B to $180B for next quarter alone. The market saw the invoice and flinched. Fair enough.
Now the part the selling ignored. The revenue is answering: 🔥🔥🔥
➤ Google Cloud revenue DOUBLED in two years
➤ Azure +48%. AWS +39%
➤ 84% of S&P companies beating estimates this season, and the sector’s earnings estimates actually ROSE during the selloff. The price fell anyway. That gap has a name: sentiment.
The tell inside the tape: the damage had almost no contagion. 9 of 11 sectors finished the week GREEN. Equal weight beat cap weight. The median stock is fine. The selling was surgical, confined to the four names writing the checks.
That is not a market losing faith in AI demand. It is a market repricing who FUNDS the buildout.
The honest bear math, on the table: free cash flow falling at three of the four (Amazon at negative $34.8B), debt tripled in three years, buybacks largely dead, depreciation doubled to $41B and still lagging capex. These are real costs of the build, and the reason the entry price just improved. You are being paid in multiple compression for tolerating the spending phase.
The frame: these companies were valued as cash machines, and they have temporarily become construction sites. The dip bet, in one line: construction sites that already doubled their cloud revenue tend to become cash machines again, at scale. 🤑🤑🤑
Capex peaks next year, per the plans. Sentiment reverses faster than fundamentals ever do.
Not a recommendation. Just my read.
$META Meta has reportedly built a humanoid robot prototype with Chinese robotics company Fourier and is developing a second version as it accelerates efforts to create AI-powered household robots, The Information reports.
🤖🤖🤖
* Prototype: The roughly 106-pound (48kg) humanoid, named Max, was developed with Fourier in just three months. A second-generation model is already underway.
* Robotics Strategy: Meta aims to develop AI software capable of controlling humanoids, potentially licensing the technology to other manufacturers rather than relying solely on its own robot sales.
* AI Training: Meta plans to use motion and visual data collected through specialized smart glasses worn by researchers, targeting approximately 270,000 hours of first-person training footage.
* Expansion: Meta's robotics division, led by former Cruise CEO Marc Whitten, has also acquired Assured Robotics Intelligence to strengthen AI models for robot control and autonomous learning.
My feed is full of victory laps today with people shaming anyone who didn’t buy the dip. Let me offer a different view, because the shaming itself is the tell. 👇 $QQQ $SPY $DJI $IWM $TLT
A threshold truth: mocking someone else’s investment decisions is pointless. You don’t know their experience level, their conviction, their risk tolerance, their time horizon, or what that cash is FOR. The trader with ten years of scars and the beginner with rent money should not take the same trade and anyone who tells you otherwise is performing, not teaching.
Now the part the barkers skip, the calendar: volatility into midterms isn’t bad luck, it’s HISTORY.
Markets hate unpriced outcomes, and an election is the ultimate unpriced outcome. The pattern across decades: choppy, anxious tape into the vote. Then, once results land and uncertainty clears, one of the most reliably favorable seasonal windows of the entire cycle emerges. Elections aren’t resolved by who wins. They’re resolved by BEING OVER.
So, if you held cash this week, hear this clearly: that’s not cowardice. That’s a position. Cash with patience behind it is an option on better prices and with the midterms days away and seasonality about to flip to your side, that option is near its most valuable.
Waiting for the fog to clear before deploying isn’t missing the move. It’s choosing your entry instead of letting FOMO choose it for you.
The teaching point under all of it: nobody who shames you into a trade will be there to share the loss. The dip buyers flexing today took THEIR risk for THEIR reasons and good for them, sincerely. But your money has exactly one manager whose incentives align with yours. Trust your research, your plan, and your timeline.
The market rewards discipline on a delay. The carnival barkers get engagement today. You get to be solvent in March.
Patience pays.
Not a recommendation. Just my read.

$INTC is having the worst day in its history, down 30%. Let’s check on the most famous Intel shareholder.
The U.S. government bought 433.3M shares at $20.47 on Aug 22, 2025. Cost: $8.9B, funded by converting CHIPS Act grants it was going to hand over anyway.
At the September peak ($142), that stake was worth $61.7B.🔥
At yesterday’s close ($92), $39.9B.
Right now ($64.59), $28.0B.
Today alone: roughly $12B of paper value gone. From the peak: $34B gone. 😳
And yet: still +$19B, still +216%, still a triple on an investment that was a grant 14 months ago. ✅
🌟🌟Two footnotes. The gain is unrealized and basically unrealizable: selling 433M shares would crater the stock the policy exists to support. And “paid nothing” is true for Treasury, not for Intel shareholders, who ate the dilution.
A $53B paper gain became a $19B paper gain in six weeks. Nobody rang the bell at the top, and the government can’t sell anyway.
This morning’s -7% names didn’t bounce. They broke.
10am → now: 😳
$CRWV -8% → -11.5%
$NBIS -8% → -10.8%
$RBRK -6.5% → -10.7%
$MRVL -7.6% → -10.5%
$SNOW -8% → -10.5%
And the list got longer: $INTC -30% · $RDDT -29% · $RBLX -21% · $AAOI -15% · $ALAB -13% · $COIN -13% · $COHR -13% · $SNDK -13% · $DELL -12% · $AMD -11.5% · $LITE -11% => DAMN 🩸🩸🩸🩸
Volume confirms it. $INTC has traded 263M shares, 2.5x its full-day average, with three hours left. $RDDT is at 3x. $COIN and $RDDT both printed 52-week lows.
Chips are the center of it: SOX -7%, its worst day since June. $AMD and $DELL -11% on Intel's PC warning.
Optical names ($LITE, $COHR, $AAOI) and connectivity ($ALAB, $MRVL) getting hit with them.
The whole AI hardware supply chain, one day.
Nasdaq at a 3-month low. S&P through its 100-day. Dow down less than 1%. 😱😱😱
A gap-down that gets bought is a dip. A gap-down that gets sold into lunch is something else. ⚠️

Here’s the thread connecting all of it: these companies sell picks and shovels to $GOOGL, $AMZN, $MSFT and $META. This week two of those four reported negative free cash flow while holding capex guidance north of $200B each. The market’s question isn’t whether the spending continues. It’s whether anyone downstream gets paid before it stops.

Calls on high-beta stocks in the middle of earnings season and days before the midterms? This market is handing out tuition bills.
$NBIS, $CRWV, $IONQ, $RGTI, $OKLO, $APP.
Maybe the mistake wasn’t being bullish. Maybe it was refusing to wait.
Election uncertainty is about to clear. Earnings season is actively repricing winners and losers. And historically, the post-midterm stretch has offered bulls a much more favorable backdrop.
You don’t have to catch the bottom.
You have to have capital left when the better setup arrives.🎯

$RIVN +2% on a Jefferies upgrade to Buy, $17 target (48% upside). 🚀
The thesis is simple: Q3 was the quarter the numbers started working. Revenue +38%, record 19K deliveries, gross profit $176M, guidance raised, capex cut.
Jefferies sees auto gross margins flipping positive and EBITDA breakeven by 2028. The 30% pullback was the gift.

Details of the proposed seven-day U.S.–Iran interim agreement reveal a plan to restore unrestricted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for U.S. concessions, followed by negotiations on a permanent settlement. Major disagreements over nuclear commitments and implementation remain unresolved. - FT $QQQ $SPY $TLT
* Proposed Exchange: Iran would reopen the strait if Washington lifted its port blockade, permitted Iranian oil exports and granted Tehran access to some frozen overseas assets.
* Timing: Qatar's second mediation visit this week comes ahead of Tuesday's U.S. midterm elections, amid regional fears of a broader U.S.–Israeli bombing campaign afterward.
* Nuclear Demands: Washington wants a timetable for IAEA inspections and the offshore transfer of Iran's estimated 440kg stockpile of uranium enriched to 60%, near weapons-grade purity. Tehran rejects removing any enriched uranium.
* Inspections: Iran has blocked IAEA access to its main nuclear facilities since U.S.–Israeli strikes on Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan last year. The stockpile's whereabouts remain a concern.
* Negotiating Obstacles: The draft reportedly outlines reciprocal steps and implementation deadlines, but disputes persist over sequencing. Iranian security chief Mohsen Rezaei insists Washington must first fulfill Iran's conditions.
* Israeli Pressure: Netanyahu, serving as caretaker prime minister after an inconclusive election, is urging Trump to launch a joint offensive. Diplomats warn renewed strikes could trigger Iranian retaliation against regional energy infrastructure, undersea cables and data centers.
$INTC Intel received two downgrades and three price-target cuts following Q3 earnings and weaker Q4 guidance, as analysts cited PC demand weakness, manufacturing constraints and limited foundry traction. KGI Securities was the sole upgrade among four firms.
UPGRADED
* KGI Securities: Neutral → Outperform, PT $95 — Upgraded its outlook on Intel.
DOWNGRADED
* BofA: Buy → Neutral, PT $145 → $100 — PC weakness, supply headwinds and limited external foundry traction delay Intel's turnaround.
* Roth Capital: Buy → Neutral, PT $120 → $70 — Manufacturing constraints and weaker guidance limit data center growth potential.
TARGET LOWERED
* Jefferies: $120 → $85 (Hold) — PC inventory reductions and weaker client demand pressure revenue, margins and earnings.
$AMZN Amazon received nine price-target cuts and three increases from 12 Wall Street analysts following Q3 earnings. All maintained bullish ratings, citing strong long-term AWS and AI growth potential despite elevated capital spending, near-term growth expectations and free cash flow pressure.
TARGETS RAISED
* MoffettNathanson: $315 → $357 (Buy) — Raised its target following Q3 results.
* Mizuho: $330 → $335 (Outperform) — Strong two-year AWS outlook despite elevated spending and negative free cash flow.
* UBS: $348 → $352 (Buy) — Expects AWS growth above 40% in 2027–2028, supported by a $578B backlog.
TARGETS LOWERED
* Baird: $310 → $300 (Outperform) — Views the post-earnings pullback as a buying opportunity despite mixed results.
* BofA: $320 → $317 (Buy) — Strong AI positioning, AWS backlog growth and custom silicon demand.
* Cantor Fitzgerald: $310 → $280 (Overweight) — AWS growth reached 39%, with expanding margins and a stronger backlog.
* Citizens: $315 → $275 (Outperform) — Cites logistics advantages and potential AWS growth above 40% despite rising capital expenditures.
* KeyBanc: $350 → $345 (Overweight) — Sees long-term AWS revenue potential reaching $1T, supported by cloud and retail opportunities.
* Morgan Stanley: $350 → $335 (Overweight) — Near-term AWS expectations were too high, though long-term growth remains attractive.
* Oppenheimer: $320 → $285 (Outperform) — Maintains confidence in AWS growth while highlighting AI margin and free cash flow pressure.
* TD Cowen: $350 → $340 (Buy) — Revenue beat expectations; views the post-earnings selloff as overdone.
* Wells Fargo: $329 → $326 (Overweight) — Views AWS capacity delays as temporary, with potential growth exceeding 50%.
$INTC Intel is reportedly developing Moon Lake, a low-power processor expected to replace its N-series chips in budget laptops and mini-PCs. Leaked specifications suggest four low-power efficiency cores, no performance cores and power ratings as low as 6W, with a potential launch in 2028.
* Core Architecture: Leaker Jaykihn reports four LP-E cores, potentially based on Intel's Darkmont architecture, with an efficiency-core island similar to Wildcat Lake.
* Power Efficiency: Expected TDP configurations range from 6W to 15W, targeting energy-efficient devices. The 6W variant would match existing N-series power ratings.
* Target Market: Moon Lake could power entry-level laptops and mini-PCs priced around $300–$500, depending on component costs.
* Performance Outlook: Architectural improvements could deliver higher performance per clock and better battery life despite retaining four efficiency cores. Clock speeds remain unknown.
* Launch Timeline: Moon Lake is reportedly planned for 2028.
Where the Iran war stands this morning, 4 days before the midterms: $QQQ $SPY $TLT $USO
🛢️ Hormuz is still a shooting gallery. The IRGC says it halted 2 more tankers today after claiming 4 struck mines Thursday (unconfirmed). UK maritime did confirm a projectile hit one tanker on the U.S.-backed southern route. WTI $103, Brent $114, crude up 11% on the month.
🤝 Qatar is back in Tehran with revisions to a U.S.-coordinated draft. A source tells CBS there are signs of progress and an Iranian answer is expected by the weekend. Tehran’s asks: lift the port blockade and the oil sanctions. Tehran’s line: nothing moves on nuclear.
🎙️ Trump on KCMO radio: the war will be “wrapped up soon,” but the U.S. needs a guarantee Iran never gets a nuke. He also admitted he’s not sure who to negotiate with, since much of Iran’s leadership is gone.
The gap is simple and wide: Iran won’t give on nuclear, Trump won’t settle without it. Trump has said no strikes before Nov. 3. What happens Nov. 4 is the whole trade. Oil is pricing the question, not the answer. 🛢️🛢️🛢️🛢️
