Chris Fowler talking about pressure to sack rate on the broadcast in regards to Keelon Russell. Very cool

The powers that be have slowly and purposefully eroded so much of the tradition, regionalism, community and rivalry-focused nature of the sport that this was only inevitable. What used to feel quaint, clubby and quirky has become cold and corporate. Television rules everything including the pace of play. Roster turnover means fans barely know their team. Athletic departments treat longtime loyal fans—the ones who show up no matter what, until they are pushed too far—dismissively at best and poorly at worst. Everything is about the playoff; that was never the point. Will always love the sport but it’s not what it was even 10 years ago and barely recognizable to 25 years ago.
I am beginning to think College Football has a bit of an attendance problem brewing. Look at the thread below to see the crowds yesterday at Oklahoma, Penn State, UCLA, TCU, Maryland, SDSU, and FSU. 🤯 What is the main cause? Unrealistic expectations? Economy? Apathy? Halloween? 🧵👇🏼

This is hilarious. The team at the bottom of this list is tied for the most wins in the NFL and is in 1st place in the division, coming off a win over its biggest competition.
EPA per play on 3rd down this season: 0.37 - Las Vegas Raiders 0.26 - Buffalo Bills 0.26 - Cincinnati Bengals 0.25 - Dallas Cowboys 0.25 - Miami Dolphins 0.18 - Jacksonville Jaguars 0.17 - Kansas City Chiefs 0.14 - Chicago Bears 0.11 - Green Bay Packers 0.04 - San Francisco 49ers 0.04 - New Orleans Saints 0.01 - New York Giants -0.01 - Seattle Seahawks -0.02 - Houston Texans -0.03 - Tennessee Titans -0.03 - Indianapolis Colts -0.03 - Philadelphia Eagles -0.04 - Detroit Lions -0.07 - New York Jets -0.08 - Pittsburgh Steelers -0.08 - Baltimore Ravens -0.10 - New England Patriots -0.10 - Los Angeles Chargers -0.10 - Los Angeles Rams -0.14 - Atlanta Falcons -0.15 - Arizona Cardinals -0.17 - Carolina Panthers -0.19 - Minnesota Vikings -0.20 - Cleveland Browns -0.22 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers -0.29 - Washington Commanders -0.35 - Denver Broncos

Counts as a run play. Given St Brown's speed at moment of catch/handoff), 10 expected rush yards given the @NextGenStats / Big Data Bowl model

Looks like @starrettjason got open pretty quick on this play. Good route running, good get off.

Some inspiration from yours truly: a sample pancake for @Bates_Football in a 2003 game against Colby (center #59). Perhaps not the most devastating block of all time, but enough to draw the Colby coaches' ire (audio on) 3/4

Fair to call this the worst Eagles defensive performance in the Vic Fangio era. From ESPN Research:

LeBron James on the atmosphere: “It was everything that I dreamed of and more. The boos, that was amazing. We deserved it. And then we got the cheers and almost blew the roof off this thing tonight in a good way. So that was a hell of a night.”

Haha "I was gonna do this but I quit and now I'm gonna discredit someone who actually went through with it." This is lame. Will every coach and administrator be 100% honest? Doubtful. But I'm interested to see what @MattNorlander found with all his hard work.
I started doing this project months ago and gave up on it because about half of the coaches are full of shit with what they tell you they are spending.

Look at the teams the Eagles are grouped with. Things may be worse than they seem. And they have a *very* realistic case to be 4-1 and masking a lot of these issues.
WEEK 5 NFL TIERS There's no guarantee of a top-tier offense quite like having Josh Allen on your football team

The Eagles were as bad as could be on offense Sunday. 🏈 1st percentile in EPA/rush 🏈 1st percentile in explosive play rate (and that's *with* a 62-yard TD) 🏈 2nd percentile in pressure allowed 🏈 3rd percentile in rushing success rate Don't know how/when this gets better.

Kicking a touchback to give them the ball at the 35 w/:08 means they'd need one 13 yd catch at the sideline to kick a 70 yd FG, which this kicker can do. I understand not wanting to do that. But there should have never been a kickoff at all. Manage the clock and you walk off.
After Coen waited 30 seconds to call his 2nd timeout after Goedert catch at +34, #Eagles had 1st & 10 w/:25. :25 Incomplete on roll-out (🕐 stops) :21 Makai 7 yd catch/run ob (just go down!) (🕐 stops) :17 Run for -3 :12 (Jags use last timeout) Just can't stop the clock there.

This is great stuff. So many people working really hard on a TV broadcast, and they make it look *way* easier than it is.
