the origin of the Members of Technical Staff Podcast was SF parties.
it's the bit that will never stop giving
TODAY ON THE FRONTIER: this week @creatine_cycle from @mots_pod joined me to talk about the myriad eccentricities of the SF party scene, from the origins of the Bay Areaβs barefoot-casual dress code to the blurred lines between parties and networking events

Many rideshare app users balk at the way an opaque algorithm determines the prices they're offered. Zero-knowledge proofs are increasingly capable of providing those riders with greater transparency, within reason, @sophiabulla1 writes.
"Splitting the hotline off from trade discussions and housing it inside the military requires building a new institution focused solely on SI discussions. The goal of the SI hotline should be 'boring infrastructure' as opposed to a 'flashy political tool.'"

@chrisharig99 and @GovindPimpale argue that the new US-China Super Intelligence hotline is a major step forward, and outline how clear risk frameworks, technical expertise, and durable communication channels can ensure its success.

The US-China SI hotline is a great first step towards mitigating the national security risks presented by SI. @GovindPimpale and I argue that a few design choices would make the hotline a durable institution, unlike it's predecessors. Post linked below.
.@ehanford is right.
I wrote about Project Follow Through for @JoinFAI.
It's a tragedy that it was ignored.
The study provided some answers. But didnβt change education.

Please make congressional technical understanding great again
Excited to share this updated primer on the Office of Technology Assessment (OTA) with @danielschuman. With new economic/cyber/bio/and other policy challenges arising from AI, now would be a great time to invest in greater science and tech capacity in Congress.

On a personal note, this announcement made me brim with brotherly pride. @energybants, TNC's Chief of Staff, is a dear friend. Watching him realize a dream he's had for the decade I've known him fills me with hope and admiration.

Appreciate the opportunity last week to join the Ecosystem for Research Networking quantum webinar series to speak on the future of research computing, why a heterogeneous computing substrate is emerging as quantum computing continues to mature, and what this all means for computation-driven discovery.
Grateful to @gforough for the invitation, and all the attendees for their great questions!
