"I've been resting it for six weeks and it's getting worse." I hear that almost every week. Six weeks of rest doesn't heal an injury. It deconditions one. If your pain has outlasted the rest plan, the rest plan is the problem.

Resilience is not just about bouncing back after challenging setbacks. It is also a daily practice: getting out of bed; showing up; and putting one foot in front of the other, moving in the direction of what matters.

After 3 weeks of teaching 3rd year PT students, there’s one glaring theme of the class so far. They need more practice coaching people through exercises. If you are a young aspiring PT, get out and coach people before you graduate, your future patients will thank you.

Andy Reid’s coaching tree… 10 head coaches were assistants under Reid first. 7 have lead teams to the playoffs. 4 have gotten to the conference championship 3 got to the super bowl 2 won it. Mentorship may be the most impactful element of your professional pursuit.

Practice being a good person, and you’re more likely to become a good person. Make a habit of being a selfish, egomaniacal asshat, and you’ll most likely succeed as well. You get to choose how you react to circumstances, and who you’ll become.

I look forward to the day when things like coach health, work/life harmony, burnout, career security, equality of opportunity, safety, compensation, contracts, representation & retirement are as passionately & routinely discussed in S&C as squat depth, Olympic lifts & programming

Progress is born out of overcoming what is once uncomfortable. Avoid what is uncomfortable and success will forever evade you.
If your gas tank was empty and you only had enough cash to fill 1/4 tank, you wouldn't keep it empty just because you couldn't fill it all the way. Same goes for workouts. If you can't do an hour, cool. Do 15 minutes. Something is always better than nothing.
