Looking like a hit! Professor Tudor Rickards, who is in his mid eighties and started writing songs in 2025 and has now penned over 100 of them, has knocked up another creative rap gem: Me Unwrapped (with music by GM Jon) has gone past 1000 streams in its first week on Spotify: open.spotify.com/track/4hzzX… Lyrics Me, rap? Can’t rap, don’t ask me. No way — I’m old, too sold, too cold. Me, rap? Don’t put that on me. I’m better off exactly as I’ve always been told. Too white, too establishment, Don’t need to know who pays my rent. Can’t dance, can’t swing a beat — too tight, Two left feet. I’m rigid, right? No groove, no moves, no attitude, No evidence I’ve ever understood. If rhythm’s a river, I’ve missed the boat — I stand on the bank and clear my throat. Can’t swing, can’t wing, Here’s another nerdy thing: I cannot originate, I much prefer to imitate. Give me a model, give me a rule, Give me a book and I’ll play the fool. Don’t ask me to make something new — I’ll make a copy, probably better than you. Me, rap? Can’t rap, don’t ask me. No way — I’m old, too sold, too cold. Me, rap? Don’t put that on me. There’s nothing here worth being told. I’m not a party animal, Or a scary Hannibal. Not a closet claustrophobic — Me? I’m mostly frontal-lobic. No wild side waiting to be found, No secret beast beneath the ground. If there’s a hidden me inside, He’s probably filed it, sealed it, and died. Made a living without giving Way to emotion — not my portion. A life that suited me quite well, Like a medieval monk in a medieval cell. No need for passion, no need for fire, No inconvenient heart’s desire. Keep everything calm, contained, controlled — A tidy life is a life well told. Me, rap? Can’t rap, don’t ask me. No way — I’m old, too sold, too cold. Me, rap? Don’t put that on me. Nothing to see here — nothing to hold. Better gagged and locked away, Never glimpse the light of day. In a box marked: DEADLY DANGER! Keep away, intruding stranger. Don’t lift the lid, don’t pull the tape, Don’t ask what might be my escape. Whatever’s in me, let it stay — Safely wrapped and packed away. I don’t want to be unwrapped. Leave my juices all untapped. Leave me and my sleeping soul Unwitnessed, wrapped and whole. Don’t open me, don’t ask me why. Don’t turn the key, don’t ask what’s inside. For all I know, beneath this shell There’s something worth unwrapping — but I wouldn’t tell. Me, rap? Can’t rap, don’t ask me. No way — I’m old, too sold, too cold. Me, rap? Well… maybe, perhaps. Maybe there’s something underneath all these wraps. Me, rap? Don’t ask me to explain. I’m still too cold, too old, too sane. But if you really want to see And hear it in a different key You’ll gonna have to unwrap me. And here it is on You-tube: youtube.com/watch?v=bKjnIoPJ…

One from the back catalogue, published a while back. GM Jon only started in 2025, so a ‘while back’ usually means a few months ago only… The song was actually written in 1876 by Henry Work. Johnny Cash covered it in 1959. I am a big Johnny Cash fan, though I think he was an even better singer 40 years later…The modern, Tara Turner version is superior in my opinion!
