It’s funny because you can tell these people haven’t watched Dragon Ball Z in a while because Vegeta having to cator to Beerus AT ALL is Vegeta having to swallow his pride. These copy/paste takes are getting old. It’s always the same Ex Dragon Ball Fans who literally just use the show as a platform for engagement due to it’s popularity for attention too.
OMG

I feel like I live in alternate reality I see people saying the new DBS anime is bad because it DOESNT have the Bingo dance etc. But when those things happened people complained literally all the way up until now about it and now it’s completely backwards. The thing Is I am fine Either way I like that Vegeta and Goku sacrificing their pride is spelled out in the OG Super but they are still doing that here too it’s just not as spelled out I also think the whole point of this anime is to have a more focused narrative so I don’t really see the Issue and as far as the directing etc. It wasn’t the greatest ever but as someone who is currently rewatching the DBZ anime it’s kind of disingenuous. Like I saw people complaining about scenes being drug out etc. but if you want Dragon Ball Super to be more like the Z anime isn’t that what you want? I am genuinely confused but also not surprised.

When Goku is in control of his emotions he is not thinking about the global situation he is only thinking about the fight because that’s what makes him a good martial artist. The fact you think the literal Author doesn’t know his own character is Ego on your part, There is just nuance to Goku. Goku got scared against Raditz, But Excited against Vegeta BECAUSE of his Saiyan blood being activated by being relatively even with Vegeta with Raditz it was Life or Death. How Goku behaves is completely situational and any time everyone’s safety is on the line he will do whatever to fix it but that’s not his goal or the reason he wants to fight, He is a pure hearted martial artist who is forced to protect himself and others in life or death situations not a Righteous Hero of justice who actively looks to save people.. this is so unbelievably easy to understand and should be common knowledge at this point.

So what that still means Goku's supposed purity brock.
And while its the only time its highlighted like this so is it obviously not the only time Goku fought for other reasons than enjoying fighting strong opponents
Toriyama's statement is just an ideal he didn't actually write

If I had a dollar for every time someone called me a Larper on here and then immediately said something incorrect I would eventually be very very rich.

Gohan changed his mind and killed him once and for all. He continued to seek justice, naturally, for Cell's sins.
The joke about Vegeta's declaration to kill was that he did it out of pride and malice. Here there's no malice, just one +
This fandom really needs to learn the difference between Avenge and Revenge and how important that is narratively to keeping Goku’s heart free of selfish/evil/malicious thoughts. That’s literally why Goku is pure of Heart because he only kills for others and never for himself and never taints his intentions as a Martial Artist.

Yes he DOES kill for self gratification. He wants to avenge his friends, killing Tambourine and Piccolo makes him feel better, makes him feel like justice was served for Krillin and Roshi. He is literally HUNTING Tambourine to kill him what are we talking about lmao
xitter.cf/svarog_draws/status/21… This is not an example of Goku Killing for self gratification it’s the opposite.
Replying to @JordanLDurham
If you genuinely believe that Goku took no self gratification in killing King Piccolo Idk what to tell you lmao
That’s hilarious given that Toriyama gave the EXACT SAME CRITICISM I gave. Vegeta’s speech is LITERALLY in reference to his criticism, Toriyama wanted to portray that no one was as pure as Goku BECAUSE he never killed for self gratification like Vegeta and the Anime did a bad Job portraying that because they made it seem like he killed based on his own personal sense of Justice rather than instead of being forced as a martial artist.

Ironic you telling me I don't understand Goku when your entire understanding of Dragon Ball is based on bullshit headcanon that Toriyama would laugh at himself.
