Replying to @bphogan
I keep a work journal and write in it every day. Some days I write more, some I write less. I use the command line tool jrnl (jrnl.sh/en/stable/) which I also recommend in my book smallsharpsoftwaretools.com
It keeps things in plain text where you want, and you can encrypt too!
Do you want to see jrnl on a particular package manager? Let us know. github.com/jrnl-org/jrnl/iss…

Most notably, jrnl v2.5 will drop support for Python 3.6 (we need 3.7+ to fix several bugs in our queue).
