The largest synagogue in the state of Michigan released a statement yesterday saying an ad by "Rebellion PAC" in support of Abdul El-Sayed is antisemitic, calling upon politicians to denounce it.
Full statement below from Temple Israel, the same place attacked by a Hizballah-inspired extremist earlier this year:
---------------------
āIn a place where there is no humanity, strive to be human.ā (Hillel, Pirkei Avot 2:5)
This week, Rebellion PAC circulated an advertisement in Michiganās U.S. Senate race in which a couple struggles to afford groceries and viewers are told that the worldās only Jewish state is to blame. This is antisemitism, plain and simple, built on one of historyās oldest and most dangerous lies.
Antisemitism is not a matter of left or right, and in moments like this, silence is not neutral.
We call on every political leader in Michigan on every side of the aisle to name this ad for what it is and refuse to normalize its message.
We ask our neighbors of every faith and background to stand with us and use their voices to denounce this rhetoric.
And we ask our own community to stay strong, to speak up, and to keep standing against hatred in any form.
We will choose to be human and continue making a difference.

šØThis is amazing. Cory Booker passes (twice!) on answering a question about the support for El-Sayed in the #MISEN race during a CNN interview with @Boris_Sanchez earlier today.

The Rebellion PAC ad invokes harmful antisemitic stereotypes and misinformation. US aid to Israel is not the reason for high prices at the grocery store. High prices have been caused by Donald Trumpās chaos and corruption. The American people get that; anyone participating in our political process should too.

Replying to @brhodes @AbdulElSayed
My values, my identity and my community are far more important to me than any individual election result. Regardless, itās widely understood that I lost in my particular district for the same reasons this ad is repugnant, blatantly false, and incites even more violence against Jews.
And sadly, you consistently add fuel to this slanderous and anti-Jewish fire.
ā71% of American Jews feel emotionally attached to Israel.ā
When a candidate says Israel isnāt our friend, is just using us for our money, and is no better than Iran, itās entirely reasonable for American Jews to view that candidate as hostile toward the Jewish community.
"The share of American Jews who describe Israelis as extended family or part of their own community has climbed from 46% to 62% since 2021. Today, fully 71% of American Jews feel emotionally attached to Israel. In contrast, the share of American Jews who say they feel no real connection at all to Jews in Israel has dropped by more than half since 2021, from 28% to 13%."
Thank you Van Jones!
This is not only on El Sayed to condemn (which he hasnāt thus far).
Any Democratic politician who does not condemn this vile Jew-hating ad is complicit.
I have spoken out against anti-Muslim hate in the Michigan Senate race. I will speak out just as loudly when the target is Jewish people.
Let me state a little-known fact: ISRAEL GETS LESS THAN 0.1 PERCENT OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET. Thatās less than one tenth of a percent!
But there is an ad running that tells voters they canāt afford groceries because the United States gives so much money to Israel. In reality, the United States spends money in and on countries all around the world ā but this ad singles out the Jewish state. The ad is as dangerous as it is dishonest.
You can disagree with how the United States spends money abroad. But telling hungry families that the Jewish state is the reason they are suffering is wrong and shameful.
Blaming Jews for peopleās problems is an old story. Anybody who has read the last century of history knows where it leads. It is a dark pathway.
This ad is anti-Jewish hate and should come down immediately. Abdul El-Sayed should denounce it today.

For my latest, I quoted El-Sayed's exact statements that match the 'grocery' ad that everyone agrees is anti-Semitic. Just to be clear that you cannot find one acceptable and the other beyond the pale: commentary.org/seth-mandel/tā¦

As much as I want Dems to control the Senate, I don't think I could ever support or vote for El-Sayed after this ad:

New low for normalized Jew-hate in the American Democratic Party. Very sad:
Painting your political opponents as puppets of Jews, as this El-Sayed ad does, and as crazed baby-killers and money-grubbing villains who are the root cause of every bad thing not just in the world, but in your lifeāfrom wars to the price of eggs to the reason you canāt have free healthcareāis not just low-grade Jew-hate. Itās pure Third Reich stuff, translated directly from the original German.
Do you remember when Jewish Democrats in Michigan explained that they would vote for El-Sayed despite his open disdain for Jews, since there are many other important issues they need him to fight for? That anything was worth it to ādefeat MAGAā?
Well, hereās El-Sayedās answer to them: Donāt worry, all those issues we agree on, like healthcare, inflation, and climate change, Iām going to make them about Jews too! I will tell the public that the Jews are the reason they canāt have those things.

Ted Cruz really cooked here. I would have said a lot more. Ted really was trying to explain the complexities of foreign affairs to someone who doesnāt know what that is.
If you donāt kick out candidates who attending a rally CELEBRATING October 7th on October 8th (Darializa), then youāre implicitly kicking out Jews.

Utterly disqualifying.
El-Sayed campaign statement: "This ad is not affiliated in any way with the Abdul for Senate campaign. Abdul is focused on pushing back against Trumpās agenda that is raising prices for Michiganders. No one speaks for Abdul but himself and his campaign." #MISEN

Hey @SenSchumer, @RepJeffries, Will you condemn blatantly antisemitic campaign ad supporting @AbdulElSayed? Or will you look the other way because condemning it might be politically inconvenient?
Where do you draw the line?

If @AbdulElSayed truly means what he says about treating the Jewish community as he would treat his own children, then he would immediately condemn this dangerous ad as outrageously antisemitic and demand that it be taken down.
If not, then heās full of shit.

This is in response to a criticism of the most antisemitic ad Iāve ever seen in American politics.
Criticizing Israel is not antisemitic.
Claiming all our economic problems are due to the worldās only Jewish state is.
Is Adam saying that Democrats must embrace antisemitism?

Anti-Jewish lies through the ages:
ā 1300s: Jews poisoned the wells
ā 1400s: Jews murder children for religious rituals
ā 1500s: Jews are inherently treacherous sorcerers
ā 1600s: Jews are economic parasites
ā 1700s: Jews are secret orchestrators of global revolution
ā 1800s: Jews control the global currency
ā 1920s: Jews control the banks and media
ā 1950s: Jews are "rootless cosmopolitans"
ā 2000s: Jews orchestrated 9/11
ā 2026: Jews stole your bananas and eggs
The lies have changed. The hatred for Jews has stayed the same.
Cenk Uygur's ad for Abdul El-Sayed isn't selling new politics. It's just recycling old hate.

FACT: The annual funding Israel receives from the US amounts to less than one-tenth of 1% of the federal budget. Less than 1/10th of 1%.
FACT: That annual funding would cover only a few hours of federal health care spending. A few hours.
Yet politicians who specialize in scapegoating would have you believe that Israel is responsible for Americaās affordability crisis.
Like every form of scapegoating before it, it is a dangerous lie.
I stand with Brianna! She has more than proven herself a friend of the Jews over the past few years.
Jewish friends, if you see people making these claims, can you please make it clear they are false?
I founded Rebellion PAC to get progressives elected back when that meant health care and equal protections. Not this nonsense.
I have to conclude this is people looking for reasons to hate me because I am a trans woman.
