Would you rather be watching this US Open on the tree lined Shinnecock Hills? The left is #15 at Shinnecock 35 years ago. The right is today. I think the current Shinnecock is maybe the best course on the planet. But the old version was amazing as well. And a brute!

We're profiling the agronomy team at Shinnecock Hills this week. It was a special experience to walk all 18 holes of this wonderful golf course with them yesterday morning.

Among my most popular requests, the fantastic 154yd par-3 11th at Shinnecock Hills is called many things: “Hill Head” - its official moniker “The shortest par-5 in golf” - Lee Trevino “Death, the destroyer of scorecards” - me “One of the greatest par-3s in golf” - everyone

Local brewery sponsors event at the golf course today... proshop staff gets a 4 pack each as a thank you... grounds maintenance gets nothing. Not surprised just reaffirming that our efforts are the forgotten factor even tho we are the reason the golf course thrives

#11 Green is being renovated currently. Originally constructed on native soils in 1919, it’s finally getting its USGA makeover. Awesome to see what 100+ years of rootzone looks like. Lots of variety in top dressing habits over the decades. #layers

Golf courses will be busy again this year, so you're likely to encounter maintenance staff during your round. It can feel like mowers are following you around the course, but they're doing their best to avoid interfering with play.👉usga.org/content/usga/home-p…
