A post can get a pile of likes and zero calls.
The people clapping are rarely the people buying.
Write for the ones who pay.
We paid Blue Cross $1,800 a month for bare-bones coverage.
Now it's < $700 for five of us on @crowdhealth.
I stopped waiting for the system to fix itself.
🤖 Made with AI
As a small business owner who has always provided health insurance to our employees, I can testify that the current system is broken beyond repair. Costs have risen to the point that we can no longer afford to offer coverage, yet the rules leave us no legal way to stop. This impossible bind is crushing small businesses across America, forcing many of us to choose between compliance and survival.
"Something I've always avoided in the past."
That's how a client described email.
Then he did one email project with me. We worked on the tone, the flow and the hook.
4216x return on slightly less than 45 days of work.
His words: "AKA personal record!"
Wisdom to design.
Understanding to establish.
Knowledge to refine and fill.
A business needs all three.
"It's just capped by the number of referrals that I get."
An owner told me that on a fit call in July. Referrals were her whole pipeline.
Over 90 days, this is what I build with owners like her:
A.) One clean offer.
B.) One message.
C.) One selling system you run yourself.
If referrals slowed and you think it's your marketing, DM me and tell me what you sell.
My brand color is green because of The Matrix.
"There's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path."
Your clients already know the path.
They pay you to walk it with them.
A friend was burning out and didn't see it.
The work wasn't what was wearing him down.
He'd lost track of WHY he was doing it.
More tactics won't fix that. They'll just fill the calendar faster.
A client writing her second book told me:
"So many people have written on this topic."
I asked if she'd ever written on it.
No.
"Well then, that's why this book needs to be written."
A crowded category means the buyers already exist.
How I thought about planning:
Show up. Flow. Do the work.
How I think about it now:
Visionaries still have to evolve. The calendar doesn't care about your vibes.
Needed name ideas for one client.
Voice-noted a different client: "There's nobody on the planet who does this better than you."
He came back with great names.
Clients helping clients they've never met.
That's what good clients are supposed to do.
Me a while back:
Fighting AI. Hard pass.
Me for the last six months:
10 to 15 new AI chats every single day.
My middle schooler uses ChatGPT for homework now.
Part of me is proud. Part of me is like, oh my gosh.
Your kids are going to be fluent.
Decide if you will be.
A friend was weighing a job he wasn't excited about.
I told him excited isn't the bar right now.
- Can you do the job?
- Does it pay?
- Does your wife sleep at night?
Entrepreneurs hate that answer. Their families don't.
A client wanted to cut their contract down.
My take: take the smaller deal and keep the client.
Starting from zero again is 100 times harder.
Hotels down to houses still keeps you in the game.
Helped my wife build her first VIP day offer.
Ran her through my Profit Profiles framework.
She said, "This is gold."
I said, "I know. Thank you very much."
Your spouse is the hardest room you'll ever sell in.
Land it there and it lands anywhere.
How I thought about community platforms:
Chase the best features. Facebook Groups, Circle, Skool, MemberPress. Tried them all.
How I think about it now:
Pick the people you like doing business with.
That's why I moved everything to Kajabi.
What I say before almost every discovery call:
"If it's in alignment with my assignment, it will flourish. If not, it will fade, and I'll still be blessed either way."
Attached to the process.
Detached from the outcome.
Desperate sellers can't do the second part.
After a year of treading water, I asked two questions:
1.) Who do I want to help?
2.) What do I care about now?
Skip those two and a restart is just a rebrand.
The extent of my coding knowledge.
I give AI an idea and say "I don't care how you build it, I just want it to do XYZ at the end."
Then, at the end, I ask "Is this the best you can do?"
@jclermont would be proud?
