Good to see expansion of government support for free lessons for pupils from under-resourced backgrounds to learn to play an instrument of their choice. Shocking how much the creative world has become a privileged place, ignoring socio-economic diversity. gov.uk/government/news/music…

Momentous: The UK, home to the world’s first coal power station in 1882, will stop using coal to generate electricity this month, the 1st G7 country to do so
Coal supplied 80% of UK electricity in 1990. Remember: they said it couldn't be done

Damning @suttontrust report on widespread socio-economic segregation across England's state schools. We need fairer & more transparent admissions & Ofsted scrutiny to assess whether schools are taking their 'fare share' of pupils from local communities. suttontrust.com/our-research…

As the granddaughter of two men who fought for Britain
As the daughter of a man who helped re build Britain
As someone who served her country at the top table in government
And as the mother of a child who once again, in uniform, defends Britain
I refuse to accept that Britain may no longer be a welcoming and inclusive place for my grandchildren
