I've been heavily speculating in the markets (not full time) since 1992. My first trades were before online brokerage, you had to call in for quotes and to place orders. 4% commission in AND out.
I had a great run during the DOT COM era. By 1999, I had a really chunky (for my age) portfolio and thought it was easy. By late 2000, the account was $0. That part was fun, at least. For the next 10 years I was super active, some good runs, some big drawdowns. Overall, nothing exceptional. Just decent.
Then something shifted. The need to speculate faded and that’s when things actually got better.
Once I stopped chasing it, opportunities started coming to me. Not just in trading. As I’ve gotten older and less interested in money itself, seeing opportunity has become clearer. And more than anything, removing that constant need elevated how I experience life.
This isn’t meant to be spiritual (for some it is). But for a lot of people who are active and still underperforming, it’s worth asking what purpose this is really serving.
Most of the time, it’s just a dopamine loop. And for many, it’s closer to an addiction than they would like to admit. And that could be what’s holding you back.
How much money has been lost to vamping and pvp.
You find a good trend/meme, buy a token early, but then the cabal launches a bundle with the same name and runs it to millions.
AI wouldn't do everything, it would be a neutral arbiter following a public prompt and set of rules

in Q4 2023 there were like 8 new meme coins on ETH and 15 on SOL
you had something stupid like a 50% chance of buying 100x+ minimum on SOL and SPX6900 was still on ETH at like $10 million mcap
launchpads obviously made that infinitely worse

Every bad habit in your life is a hot frying pan you're numb to.
To change it, you simply feel the pain.

Being extremely honest here:
These videos the last 2 weeks of these trenchers irl have been really helpful for me.
Not because I would ever take their trading advice.
But seeing who they are IRL made me realize I dont have envy for their lifestyle or how they are making their money.
As someone turning 31 this month,
I look at these videos and get the realization that I dont belong nor am I meant for very degen trenching land and I have no actual desire to do it.
I think it’s ironic that trenchers trying to go mainstream have made me realize I have no interest in that world and that im simply not the target audience.
You’ll often see the flaunting of wealth and lifestyle and become envious, but this made me feel the exact opposite.
It’s not my culture or my age group
If anything it helped me focus on what is “my thing”
I still trade, but my habits around it have taken a 180 and I’m spending a lot more time thinking about other skills and my irl job.
So thank you Mr prospr and the other trenchers I see on my TL doing irl content it helped me a lot
