Spotify just wiped 50 million AI tracks this year and called it “slop.” Fifty. Million. They’re not even hiding it anymore. The whole platform is just flooded with garbage that gets auto-generated and dumped into playlists while actual people who make music get buried under it. Labels are cutting staff, mid-level tours are dying, and half these songs are trained on catalogs from people who are dead. Goldman is out here saying the industry’s gonna hit $56 billion while basically admitting the actual artists get squeezed out of the money. At this point new music isn’t really being written. It’s just being spat out, optimized to not get skipped, and uploaded by people who’ve never played anything in their life. Are we watching human music die in real time or did it already die and nobody wanted to say it?
