Let's not confuse the playing field with the political arena!
The @NBA has reaffirmed the value of its partnership with Rwanda and the tangible results of its engagement.
That value did not emerge by chance. It is rooted in a vision and leadership that have created the conditions for investment, sports development and opportunities for a new generation.
HE President Paul Kagame has played a defining role in that transformation.
It is unfortunate that some U.S. senators are seeking to reduce this partnership to their own political considerations, risking overlooking the tangible achievements and opportunities it generates.
Sport should remain a force for bringing people together, fostering development and creating opportunities, not become an instrument of political pressure.
As for Rwanda's political choices and leadership, these belong to the Rwandan people and their institutions, not to U.S. senators. @JeffMerkley
