They arrived in Russia last summer to study, but were lured into signing contracts and sent to the front.
They served in assault units, were wounded, and received passports on return.
According to independent international reports and media investigations, Russia has significantly expanded recruitment of foreign fighters, mainly from Africa.
More than 5,400 African citizens from over 40 countries had been identified in the Russian armed forces in 2026.

🇫🇷 Emmanuel Macron called social media a threat to democracy and admitted French authorities were unprepared for the October 17 riots.
Speaking in Marseille, he said they “completely failed to foresee what happened” when unrest turned into arson, looting, and clashes with police.
He noted that “numerous far-left groups began mobilizing early in the morning, which is unusual for them.”
Macron added that social media draws young people into the violence.
“They were used, especially on the 17th, to attract young people and older people to places where offenses, attacks, and robberies were taking place,” he said.
