“Those who die go no further from us than God, and God is very near”. The St Brigid’s players bring the McNamee Cup to their friend Fionntán McGarvey's grave after they won a first ever Antrim senior title. Fionntán died in 2022.
From one whistle and one ball to Antrim champions! Congratulations @Naomhbridclg 💙💛
Good luck @Naomhbridclg in Antrim Co final today! 2yrs ago watched them win Div 1 title (husband has finally retired since!) but even I know it’s the championship that really counts - they’re an amazing team & fingers tightly crossed for them today 💙💛
This is leadership from the Newsletter. Wishing the two extremely brave witnesses strength & healing in the time ahead - it’s now on all of us to make it that much easier for other survivors of abuse to come forward.
Jeffrey Donaldson was set to dominate tomorrow’s @News_Letter front page - his face splashed across the cover. At the last minute, we pulled it. We chose to deny him the spotlight and amplify the fierce bravery of his victims instead. Their courage broke the silence.
A constituent contacted me last week because they have a 10 year wait to see a consultant. I wrote to the Trust & they confirmed he had a 10.8yr wait. The system is not working, which is why we are committed to working with any other party to transform health & social care ⤵️
Alliance Leader @naomi_long has issued a direct call to the leaders of other Assembly parties to agree a Cross-Party Compact on Health and Social Care reform.

Took my little ballerina to see the Royal Ballet’s principal ballerina. We need to celebrate Melissa Hamilton more! What a privilege to see her dance at the @gohbelfast & what an inspiration to so many growing up here to see someone from NI achieve so much 💕🩰

@KateNicholl & @PaulaJaneB joined Minister @AndrewMuirNI at Rosetta Primary to learn about its forest school and chat with pupils about protecting our environment🌳
It was great to hear about the fantastic work the pupils are already doing to help our environment & wildlife 🐝🌱

Carla Lockhart has robust views. People are entitled to challenge her strongly, but those hurling misogynistic abuse lose the argument the minute they open their mouths. In their nasty attempt to denigrate their target, they place themselves in the gutter

Cross party & cross departmental work does happen! On U105 yesterday talking about how we all agree children should leave primary school able to swim at least 25m ⤵️
When the Assembly returned & Ministers appointed the most common question we were asked was about Andrew Muir’s agriculture credentials. That wasn’t asked of any other Minister. He is hard working, kind & dedicated to ALL of his brief despite being treated with constant contempt.
3 years since 17,500 Ladies in the Southern Trust received letters re their cervical smear tests & our thoughts today are very much with the grieving families of Erin Harbinson & Lyndsey Courtney. Proud to stand with these determined women &wholeheartedly support their campaign.
Young people are feeling hopeless. Parents are having to explain the worst of the past to their kids. The question I put to the first Minister today is what future are we building for them? And the one for all of us in Stormont (& on here!) is how do we build it together?
