Why are we not talking about the continuing exclusion of reporters from many federal agencies, including CDC, seven years after the pandemic's start? May I give your answer to the SPJ this week? profficecensorship.blogspot.… @JohnsHopkinsSPH @spj_tweets @Julie_appleby @anneapplebaum @chucktodd @CJR
The White House TV pool is back, even as Trump excludes CNN.
Networks believe a long-term blackout is untenable. But they’ll leave CNN’s slots unfilled, unless they vote otherwise.
Pool can also be suspended at any time by network vote. nytimes.com/2026/09/26/busin…

Close to seven years after the beginning of the pandemic, one of the most disruptive events of our era, there are no reporters in CDC, correct?
Trying to control the press is President Trump's "M.O.," says @AdamHSays.
"What we are seeing is a president who feels increasingly cornered," he said. "You think about the economy. You think about the sort of losing battles across the board ... he has defined a sort of enemy."
Talk about reporters being excluded from agencies including CDC, please. profficecensorship.blogspot.… @spj_tweets @SenSanders @AP
Within walking distance of the White House, you probably have a dozen agencies that don't let reporters in and intensely control contacts between staff and journalists. And they are the ones that should have the expertise on calamities like infectious disease, risks of AI, etc. The media handles that by just making the massive assumption that we get the story anyway. @spj_tweets @brianstelter @Sulliview @SenSanders @AP @AHCJ
‘It’s very gratifying to see the other members of the pool in solidarity saying we’re going to go do this if this is how you’re going treat journalists… It’s a great service to the White House and the American people.’ Ted Boutrous, the attorney representing CNN, MS NOW and Politico, joins @jaketapper to discuss the ongoing legal fight around Trump's ban of three media outlets from the White House.
Reporters are banned from many critical agencies. Please talk about that.

NEFAC is condemning the Trump administration’s decision to bar three news outlets access to the White House and the property. We recently spoke to @MarilynSchairer at @GBHNews about the ban.

The White House press ban targeting CNN, MS NOW, and Politico is “illegal and unconstitutional,” @rcfp argues in a new friend-of-the-court brief joined by 50 media outlets and industry groups.
Their access must be restored. rcfp.org/white-house-cnn-msn…
To my knowledge, there are no reporters in CDC, FDA, EPA, etc. That's vast exacerbation of existential threats. @AP @FACoalition @UGA1stAmClinic @PublicHealth @1a
"It's legally indefensible for the White House to be doing what it's doing."
@rcfp's Gabe Rottman appeared on @1a to discuss Trump's ban of CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House, the news outlets' lawsuit fighting back, and what's next. the1a.org/segments/why-donal…
There are no reporters in most agencies. Why are we silent about that?
FAC's @DavidLoySD talked on KPBS with @JadeHindmon about the White House's most recent media ban: "That is what tyrants do. That is what autocrats do. That is not what elected officials are allowed to do in the United States under the First Amendment." kpbs.org/podcasts/kpbs-midda…
So did the new criteria effectively ban a number of reporters from the White House? Did they not re-apply because they knew they could not meet the criteria?
Reporters were kicked out of many agencies years ago and their newsgathering is highly controlled by public information offices, etc. One big reason the pandemic was so severe. Why aren't we talking about that? profficecensorship.blogspot.… @spj_tweets @JohnsHopkinsSPH @AHCJ @PublicHealth

The fact that reporters still get scoops gives us no indication of how much they are missing be@cause of the restraints. @jayrosen_nyu @IRE_NICAR @nytjournalists
Pete Hegseth’s propaganda push is failing.
No matter how many journalists he bans from the Pentagon, the press is still finding scoops.
But that could change, unless politicians stop supporting crackdowns on leaks and restrictions on the open internet.

PR Office Censorship Blog: Schatz Bill Against Pentagon Press Restrictions: What About the Other Agencies?
"Many federal agencies--apparently the majority of them--kicked reporters out of their facilities years ago. Very critically, they also banned staff members from speaking to reporters, either completely or without oversight by the authorities, often through a public information office."
