Watched @Channel4 #GenderWars 3x now & perhaps wish I'd phrased a few things differently but I stand by my contribution & absolutely support the airing of the varied other voices from across the Sex/Gender "debate" spectrum. We need to talk & that may mean breaking ranks to do so
This Bill isn't perfect but its intent against anti-LGBT "abusive conversion practice likely to cause serious harm, alarm or distress" is commendable. Responsible healthcare is exempted and though not explicit (it should have been) reasonable parenting is not the target.
Not a good look by new Sen Abdul El-Sayed who I believe studied in the UK at one point. His story, America's election, is international news. Respect the press and their questions unlike Trump. If you've got time to berate a Sky news reporter you've time to answer his questions
Michigan's Democratic candidate for Senate Abdul El-Sayed confronted @jamesmatthewsky, telling him he wouldn't answer his questions as he wants "zero" votes in the UK.
Watch the heated exchange between the two.

Virginia restores and reaffirms equal marriage rights, contraception and abortion rights. And voting rights for ex-offenders. And we're back in the 21st century again, not the 19-20th!

1/ Clause 5 of the draft conversion bill imposes extensive corporate liability. This is an aspect of the bill not getting a lot of attention, so I'm grateful to Tanya for having me on her show to discuss how draconian and chilling the effect of this law would be on workplaces.

The particular oft religious abuse is strongly hinted at through the high bar of intent and consequence of harm. The caveat for caring concerned parenting & health care is perhaps too subtle. It's a good enough bill as someone who experienced conversion therapy but clarity needed
I'm baffled that the Government line on the #ConversionBill is "This draft bill targets a specific form of abuse, it does not touch regular parenting".
Where, please, is the "regular parenting" carve-out?
Where is the "specific form of abuse"?

I don't agree this is how the Conversion Practices Bill should be interpreted but where it "can" then additional safeguards and notes need adding to prevent criminalisation of concerned care parenting. The main language of the Bill sets a high bar of intent, cause and abuse.
Replying to @Jebadoo2

Republicans and Musk have spent millions on trans, immigration and abortion ads yet US citizens going to the polls are more concerned by the price of fuel which has rocketed due to the No More Wars president
CBS sources have reiterated to me it was the Mike Rogers campaign that clipped this exchange to strip away the context, not the network.
Here's a fuller clip that shows all of Ross Douthat's question before mentioning "transgender kids in sports," which focuses on "the rights of parents to control over their children's education" and "tension between Islam and Muslim voters and what I'm calling cultural liberalism around issues like: what is taught in school?"
This clip also includes El-Sayed saying "a lot of the culture war issues" are done to distract voters from kitchen table issues, and that "who gets to play sports" should be up to those who govern sports.

The Conservative Party has overtaken Reform UK in the electionmapsuk polling tracker.
This is the first time the Tories have polled ahead of Reform since January 2025.

The Tories back up to 24%. Jesus. The British public is like a dog that's been kicked by the same bloke for fourteen years, yet still runs to the door when it hears his car.
And Labour, sort yourselves out.

I am REPULSED that Brands' defence lawyers said this in their closing arguments!! I am enraged!
And we wonder why this country has a catastrophically low rape convictions!
Russell Brand’s lawyer said in his closing statement that none of the complainants “resisted or screamed or even tried to leave”.
Freezing isn't consent!!!!!
Research on rape survivors finds most experienced tonic immobility, an involuntary shutdown!

Senior Greens warn party being taken over by pro-Palestinian activists thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…

Banger of a scoop from @daisyeastlake - former Green leader Adrian Ramsey will this weekend go public and accuse pro-Palestinian activists of having taken over the party and replaced its environmental values with anti-Israeli politics.
EXCL: Senior Greens will warn that the party has been taken over by pro-Palestinian activists who have replaced its environmental values with anti-Israeli politics
Adrian Ramsay, the former leader and MP for Waveney Valley, is expected to give an interview to the BBC on Sunday criticising what has happened to the party under the leadership of Zack Polanski
He leads a group of Green figures including former members of the European parliament as they call for a “conversation about the party’s direction”, after a series of scandals and internal party rifts about antisemitism
New figures show some 18,000 members have left the party since its peak in May this year, falling to about 212,000 after the conference from a height of 230,000
The Times understands some party figures have estimated that up to eight council coalitions could collapse, after Labour said it would pull out of power-sharing agreements if local groups did not denounce a motion to declare Zionism to be racist. The exact number is still unclear
