Major General Oscar Munanura Appointed Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security UPDF
The Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has promoted Brig Oscar Munanura to the rank of Acting Major General and appointed him the new Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security (CDIS) of the UPDF. He was serving as Deputy CDIS to Major General Richard Otto, the outgoing CDIS who has been seconded to the Joint Staff Human Resource Management for redeployment.
The UPDF fraternity congratulates Ag Maj General Oscar Munanura for the promotion and appointment, and commends Maj General Richard Otto for the great work he has done during his tenure. We wish the General Officers good luck in their new duties.

We appeared today before the Rules Committee chaired by Hon. Fredrick Ruhindi to push for an upgrade to our mandate as the newly introduced Committee on Subsidiary Legislation.
My Chair, @JenniferMujungu, and I are taking this on for the first time and we are clear: passing laws is only half the battle.
The regulations and instruments must work for ordinary Ugandans on the ground. We are fighting hard to embed post-legislative scrutiny into our daily work so policy translates into real-world impact.

Speaker Jacob Oboth has met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Samvidhan Sadan, New Delhi, as the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum opened this morning.
PM Modi greeted Speakers and heads of delegations from BRICS member and partner countries before the opening ceremony. Uganda attends as a BRICS partner country.
Under a canopy of floral drapes in the Parliament courtyard, Speaker Oboth, wearing a ceremonial stole like many delegates, shared a warm handshake and conversation with the PM.
The meeting follows the welcome the Ugandan delegation received on arrival from Lok Sabha Speaker and Forum Chair Shri Om Birla.

I extend my sincere appreciation to the area Members of Parliament Hon Naguja Judith and Hon Minister Migadde Robert, the RDC and the entire security team, PO: 050 @MollyMukidiS, PO: 033 Hon Jimmy Lwanga, PO: 144 @KatushabeMadina, PO: 093 @ObedTwinamatsi2, all our cordinators and everyone who worked tirelessly to make this launch a success.
Now is the time for action! This morning at Samvidhan Sadan in New Delhi, I was pleased to meet the Prime Minister of India, Shri @NarendraModi, at the opening of the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum.
Our exchange builds on the warm engagements we have had since we arrived, including with my counterpart, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla.
Uganda and India share a long friendship rooted in history and trade, and in the many Indians who have made Uganda their home and contribute so much to our economy.
As a BRICS partner country, Uganda is here to deepen these ties. Our two-way trade is about $1.35 billion a year, and there is room to grow it, especially by bringing more Ugandan products to the Indian market and attracting investment in processing at home.
I thank Prime Minister Modi and the people of India for their hospitality.
