The psychological safety hierarchy of needs at work by @heidipsychology. I appreciate how Heidi has created three categories. At the base are basic safety needs like not being micromanaged. Next is psychological needs like belonging & sense of esteem. At the top is self-fulfilment needs, the ability to be our true, authentic selves. People who work at the top of their pyramid are the ones with the potential to deliver the best performance.

Tomorrow most of the national COVID-19 restrictions will be ending. Due to the high-risk nature of our services & the need to protect our patients & our staff, until further notice ALL existing COVID-19 control measures in our hospitals & clinics will remain in place.

We are seeing a number of attendees present to our hospitals with dehydration. Please help us to treat the people who need us the most by ensuring you drink plenty of water and check in with relatives and elderly neighbours to ensure they are staying well in the heat.

Feeling positive today. For the first time in over a year we have ZERO Covid positive inpatients in all three Trusts in the Group. Hoping this is the beginning of the end #CEOGlen

There’s an important point to made about gender bias here. Nursing is often perceived as a ‘woman’s job’. I suspect this is borne out in actuality. ‘Women’s work’ is systematically paid less, less kudos, recognition of professional status. It’s deplorable.

The benefits of vaccinating frontline NHS staff early are multiple. You protect them, you hopefully stop them from passing the virus on and you keep them at work to keep both Covid and non-Covid services running. It also reassures staff that we value them enough to protect them.

Nursing staff are working harder than ever before in highly skilled, complex, responsible roles. Yet their pay does not reflect the essential work they do. Demand #FairPayForNursing
