On the point of @ether and do we really need another 10k collection tldr: Yes, a million times yes. —— It’s become increasingly clear that none (or at best, not enough) of the existing NFT collections have shown a consistent ability to execute and demonstrate a plan for success. There are two types of success in this space: The first, as I define it, is the development of a sustainable and reasonably profitable business model that also finds ways to drive reasonable consistent value back to holders (increasing floor price of the asset). @pudgypenguins doing this best atm. The second, is to create a cultural movement that excites and pushes us as a space forward. @cryptopunks as the chief example, but also squiggles, and hopefully @OrdinalMaxiBiz and @TaprootWizards Notably, @Azuki was the closest to tying these two together imo, though this latest misstep adds at minimum a year or trust rebuilding before we can say that in confidence again. All this to say We do not have enough genuine success in NFTs yet. I’m all for giving more creators more genuine at-bats to make these successes happen. I encourage you to as well. —— As for @ether specifically, the mint price does make things admittedly very tough, and I do recommend a lot of caution in buying. But as for “why does this need to exist?”… we need more good work, and from what I’ve seen, it looks like it’s got a real shot.
