Republicans love talking about fraud in Minnesota, so let’s look at the Trump administration buying a private prison for over six times the asking price from a former donor…

My daughter works full time here in Texas. Let me run her numbers.
State minimum wage is $7.25. She's making $16.
Forty hours a week equals $640 weekly.
That’s roughly $2,700 a month before taxes.
Texas has no state income tax—the thing they sell you on. So after federal and FICA she takes home roughly $2,300.
Average one-bedroom in our city runs about $1,550.
That’s 67% of her entire paycheck gone to rent before she eats a single meal.
Leaves her around $750 a month for:
- groceries
- gas
- car insurance
- health insurance
- phone
- emergencies
- savings
Car insurance alone eats a huge chunk of that in this state.
She works 40 hours a week and cannot save a dollar. Not because she's careless because there's nothing left to be careless with.
I spent thirty years paying off a house here. She's doing the same job I did at her age and she can't afford a basic apartment.
That's not a discipline problem. That's not avocado toast.
The floor moved and nobody lowered the ceiling.
Working full time should cover a roof. In Texas it barely covers the rent on one.

I now have two sources close to Susie Wiles who claim that Trump is preparing a vast misinformation campaign for November 4th, built around conspiracy theories alleging widespread election fraud.
The plan? Declare victory regardless of the results, accuse Democratic officials of manufacturing ballots overnight, claim voting machines were secretly manipulated, and demand that Republican candidates refuse to concede.
In this scenario, the goal isn’t to prove fraud. It’s to convince millions of Americans that any election Republicans lose must have been stolen.

Abdul El-Sayed: “We can have a safe and secure southern border. ICE doesn’t do that. ICE has been used as a paramilitary force on our streets. ICE is not about immigration. Under Donald Trump, ICE is about normalizing the idea that you can have masked men on your streets who can detain you without telling you why. That’s un-American. We have a rule of law. ICE needs to be abolished”

.@JamesTalarico: The richest man in the world is dumping hundreds of millions of dollars into this state to try to defame me, so I'm doing everything I can to stand up against those lies. I am tired of us being divided into teams because the truth is we're all on the same team.
We are far more the same than we are different, but those big money interests, those social media platforms, and those cable news networks want to divide us.
Imagine what we could do if we did it together as one team—we are unstoppable.

Turns out the threat to women's safety isn't from trans athletes, it's from sick, privileged white men in ivy league colleges like Cornell who rape women and don't get arrested.
These rapists are all protected by the Epstein class.

Major protests are forming in Austin, Texas after an ICE agent appears to have shot a man in the back twice.
These officers are not properly trained, many are white supremacists and Trump appears to want this.
Enough is enough.

🚨Trump says he’s banning CNN, MS NOW & Politico from the White House because he doesn’t like their reporting.
The White House is not Trump Tower.
The press corps is not a fan club.
The First Amendment is not optional.
And now taxpayers may have to fund another court fight over it.
You don’t have to like these outlets.
THAT’S THE POINT.
The government does not get to punish the press for journalism it hates.
THE PEOPLE’S HOUSE IS NOT TRUMP’S HOUSE.

Before you decide who James Talarico is based on a campaign ad, a sound bite or a meme, it’s worth knowing a little about the person behind the politics.
Have you ever read James Talarico’s story? Researched his background? Did you know that he taught sixth-grade language arts at a high-poverty middle school in San Antonio? That he earned a master’s degree in education policy from Harvard? That he has concentrated heavily on public education, children’s welfare and access to health care? That he has served in the Texas House since 2018? That he’s studying at a Presbyterian seminary?
Talarico is a native Texan with eight generations of Texas roots. He was born and raised by a single mother in Round Rock. His grandfather was a Baptist preacher in South Texas, and Talarico still attends the Presbyterian church where he was baptized as a child. His faith has been a significant part of his life since childhood.
After graduating from UT, he went to Harvard where he earned a master’sdegree in education. He then went into public education, teaching sixth-grade language arts at Rhodes Middle School on San Antonio’s West Side, in one of the poorest ZIP codes in Texas. He didn't just teach from a textbook and go home. Former colleagues and school administrators have described him as a teacher who connected with students, encouraged struggling readers and earned the respect of kids who were often difficult to reach.
One former colleague recalled that some students who had never finished an entire book ended up loving reading in Talarico's classroom. His former principal said students generally respected him enough that even kids with serious behavior problems stayed in line in his classroom.
That experience changed the direction of his life.
He came away believing that many of the problems he saw in his classroom couldn't be fixed one student at a time. So he went into public policy and eventually into the Texas Legislature.
He was elected to the Texas House in 2018 at just 29 years old and has now served for 8 years in the Legislature. He has worked on education, child care, prescription drug costs, juvenile justice and other issues. Texas Monthly named him one of its Ten Best Legislators in 2021, citing his intelligence, collegiality and political savvy. Among his legislative accomplishments are a $25 insulin copay cap, legislation allowing incarcerated minors to earn high-school diplomas, a statewide pre-K class-size cap and other education and healthcare measures.
And then there's something else about Talarico that gets surprisingly little attention:
He is studying to become a Presbyterian minister.
He enrolled at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary because, in his words, he wanted to explore the first of Jesus' two commandments - loving God - while he was already trying to live out the second, loving his neighbor. He has studied the New Testament and Hebrew biblical interpretation, and he has said that he hopes to become a minister one day.
He's also been very clear that his Christian faith is what motivates his public service. He talks about lowering the cost of child care and prescription drugs, funding public schools and reforming the justice system as ways of loving his neighbors. At the same time, he believes strongly in separation of church and state and says he doesn't want politicians teaching people what their faith should be.
We should look at the whole person and the actual record, rather than letting political memes define him.
This isn't some guy who suddenly appeared in Texas politics yesterday.
He's a Texan from a family with eight generations of Texas roots. A Harvard graduate. A former public-school teacher. A legislator who has actually passed legislation. A lifelong Christian. A grandson of a preacher. And a seminary student preparing for ministry.
That's the James Talarico I see. VIA~~ Chauntel Moore

Don’t overlook what’s happening with Texas State soccer.
The Bobcats are now No. 15 in the country.
Football gets most of the attention, but the Pac-12 is getting a pretty good soccer program too.
