Back when I was a unit commander, I despaired at how little the USAF taught senior NCOs about practical leadership. So I created my own seminar. Per @LisaForteUK 's request, here's my professional development reading list. /1

Educate your team. Attackers may attempt to trick you into doing an interview on your work computer and this may involve “logging in” (to steal your creds) or “downloading a project or tool” (malware) to complete the interview. This is a common attack, report it immediately.

Cybersecurity in 2026 is so fun and new and exciting if you've literally never paid a single ounce of attention to anything that has happened in the past 50 years.

Sounds like a job for next October.
Just found out there are people who are still unaware of cybersecurity. Fuck.

But when have guns ever killed anyone? We need to focus on the real hard hitting issues facing Americans, such as hypothetical AI-powered IoT toaster worms. Do you really want to live in a world where you can't make toast, because AI?
A person can buy a firearm in the US and cause a mass casualty event easier than legitimate cybersecurity professionals can get access to frontier cyber capabilities.

🚨 BREAKING: NOW JAVA IS FACING A CRITICAL SECURITY EMERGENCY. Oracle has issued an OUT-OF-BAND security alert for a dangerous 9.1/10 vulnerability affecting Java and GraalVM. And the most alarming part? Hackers could exploit vulnerable applications REMOTELY, without a password or ANY user interaction. Here's what's happening: → CRITICAL 9.1/10 FLAW: CVE-2026-91403 affects Java's JSSE security component. → NO LOGIN REQUIRED: Attackers could potentially exploit vulnerable applications remotely without authentication. → SENSITIVE DATA AT RISK: Successful attacks could expose, modify, or delete critical application data. → MULTIPLE JAVA VERSIONS AFFECTED: Oracle lists affected releases across Java 8, 11, 17, 21, 25, and 27. → GRAALVM ALSO AFFECTED: Oracle confirms the vulnerability impacts multiple GraalVM releases. → EMERGENCY PATCH ALERT: Oracle released an urgent security update rather than waiting for its next scheduled patch cycle. The list of critical vulnerabilities just keeps growing. If you operate Java applications or servers, CHECK YOUR SECURITY UPDATES NOW.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
CVE-2026-91403 is a JSSE certificate trust issue with eight compromised eMudhra intermediates having weak keys, enabling potential MITM on TLS if attacker intercepts traffic—not a direct remote exploit of Java apps or servers. oracle.com/security-alert… openjdk.org/groups/vulnera… bnowakowski.pl/psa-java-cve-2…

The funny thing with this is for a few it is incredibly stressful but most of the world everything is normal. Why is it always us cyber folk who get the incredibly stressful side of the coin!?!

The “human factor” in a security organisation can easily become the least reliable component of incident response. Here’s how to address this risk. business-reporter.com/risk-m…
