The moment that all of New York City has been waiting for is coming next week.
Karlton: The Dunkin’ Hines Story, the documentary on the life & times of the late Karlton Hines, a basketball great on the high school scene in the late 1980’s that was an All-City player at Manhattan Center High School in Harlem as a freshman & sophomore and then was a top-flight national prospect at @MCISchool as a junior before transferring out prior to his senior year & later dropping out of Adlai Stevenson High School in The Bronx four months prior to his graduation.
Karlton then went on to be a street figure for some time, but later planned on making a comeback to 🏀, as he decided to get out of the drug game and play in the USBL. However, on April 8th, 1994, just as he was turning his life around, he was shot & killed at the age of 23.
Karlton’s story is one of triumph & tragedy and one that all aspiring youths need to hear. He was from the Melrose section of The Bronx, Courtlandt Avenue to be specific, the same area where future @NBA draft pick @briskuno, former @StJohnsBBall standout @iamdabronx1523 & rapper @BLovee10 also came from.
His story is definitely one for the ages. Go check it out on amazonprime & other streaming platforms next Tuesday, Sept. 8th.

🚨 DAMN.
Ruby Bridges said the moment she finally understood what was happening during school integration was when a little white boy told her:
“My mom said I can’t play with you because you’re a nigger.”
She was SIX.
And she said hearing that felt like “a huge weight lifted,” because suddenly everything made sense.
Why the classrooms were empty.
Why adults were screaming.
Why U.S. Marshals had to escort her to school.
Not because of anything she did.
Just because of the color of her skin.
A six-year-old child realizing an entire country was angry at her for existing.
