🚨 Vitinha on why he didn’t post anything about Cristiano Ronaldo’s retirement from Portugal. 🗣️ Vitinha “When Cristiano announced his retirement from Portugal, I saw everybody rushing to social media to celebrate him. I didn’t post anything. Not because I didn’t see the announcement. Not because I was busy. I simply didn’t feel like saying anything. And honestly, I have my reasons. Since Cristiano left the national team camp, my respect for him has gone downhill. I know people will be angry when they read this. But that’s how I feel. I picked up my phone. I saw teammates posting pictures with him. I saw emotional messages. I saw people calling him the greatest Portuguese player ever. And I just kept scrolling. Because what exactly am I supposed to write? That I will miss him? That Portugal will never be the same? That nobody can replace him? No. I don’t believe football should revolve around one individual. Cristiano has done a lot for this country. Nobody can take that away from him. But that doesn’t mean everybody must celebrate every decision he makes. Some people are acting like Portugal has lost its identity because one player has retired. That’s not how I see football. We have other players. We have another generation. And we have a future to build. If my silence makes me a bad person in the eyes of Ronaldo fans, then there’s nothing I can do about it. I won’t post a tribute just because everybody else is doing it. I would rather remain silent than pretend to feel something I don’t.”
