Bama fans like to complain and think it’s a Bama thing or a Kalen DeBoer thing… when in reality it’s a college football thing. Softness and inconsistency is at every program in the country. Saban retired at the perfect time. College football is deteriorating before our eyes. Every team is watered down. No dominant programs exist anymore.

College football spent two decades waiting for Alabama’s funeral. The national media wrote the obituary the moment Saban retired. Unfortunately, they forgot to check for a pulse. Roll Tide.

Nothing restores my faith in college football quite like watching twenty years of Bama jealousy and hate resurface on a Tuesday night because 13 people put the number five next to our name. Imagine hating Alabama this much and still having to talk about us for a living. That’s not a career. That’s a hostage situation with a podcast sponsor. #RollTide

College football is hovering around “too big to fail” territory. Look at the NFL. Thursday night games are routinely criticized by players, coaches, and fans, yet millions still tune in. Why? Because it’s the NFL. College football is benefiting from the same shit. Decades of tradition, loyalty, and emotional investment have created an audience that isn’t going anywhere overnight. But there’s a difference between the strength of a brand and the health of its product. Rising television ratings tell you people are still watching. But they don’t necessarily tell you the sport is getting better. You can spend years cashing in on decades of goodwill while slowly destroying the very things that created it. That’s the sad part.
