The Jews should vote for the Islamist-adjacent candidate because the other side is worse is the logic of the apologetic and self-defeating Jew, the Jew who says, I guess this is as good as it gets -- a guy who plays footsie with the Muslim Brotherhood, campaigns with Hasan Piker, can't decide whether Iran or Israel poses a greater security threat to the United States, and can't condemn a foiled terrorist attack on a synagogue.
That's absurd, and it's insulting.
Lovett is juggling competing interests -- business, partisan and religious (presumably, in that order) -- and he seems not to grasp that, at this late date, one can no longer juggle. One can no longer have all three.

We are now in what might be called the journalist’s danger zone, where an overconfident prediction can stain the rest of your career. In 2015, the exit polls showed Likud and Isaac Herzog’s Zionist Union roughly tied at 27 or 28 seats each, and both camps claimed victory. The final result was Likud 30, Zionist Union 24, a six-seat gap no exit poll saw coming.
Stay humble.

A little footnote about Game 3. Pat Murphy made sure every Brewers position player got into the game, either as a pinch hitter or a defensive replacement. Regardless of what happens, they'll all be able to say the played in a World Series. One little thing. Big culture payoff.
“Mr. El-Sayed has no trouble condemning Israel and Jews who support it. But when it comes to condemning #antisemitism, he does the equivalent of voting ‘present.’” @Wsjopinion wsj.com/opinion/michigan-ad-…

Here’s the official Central Elections Committee website, where you can refresh for live results:

We’ll know much more by Wednesday afternoon. Around 650,000 special double-envelope ballots-roughly 11% of votes cast-will be counted separately, potentially into Thursday.

Israel is such an apartheid state that the Arab parties are the ones that hold the fate of the next government in its hands!

Israel’s Arab citizens, men and women, are turning out in historic numbers to vote. They can vote, run for office, and serve in the Knesset, rights denied to many Arabs and women across much of the Middle East.
Our critical ally in the fight against terror, Israel, is the only democracy in the region, and today shows it.
😂😂@JoshKraushaar: “@SenatorCollins is a battle tested senator but #TroyJackson is probably the worst candidate she’s ever faced... I talked to a pretty high level Democratic operative over the weekend who said they almost wish they had #GrahamPlattner back” @KimStrassel “wow.”
Was great chatting with @KimStrassel about the midterms -- with one week to go until Election Day!

I’m grateful to Hashem for the privilege to be able to vote in the Jewish State. We are the luckiest Jews in 2,000 years and we should never take that for granted. 🇮🇱

Israel was the first middle eastern country to give Muslim women the right to vote. They’re exercising it today and will likely sway the election. Israel is extraordinarily bad at apartheid and genocide.

Jews have a moral obligation to vote for an antisemite that vilifies the only Jewish state?
You guys are sick

I want to be very clear: Lovett supported a literal Nazi in Maine and should not be trusted on Jewish issues.
Jews, you owe your vote to no one. Candidates must earn your vote. You alone decide if El Sayed has.

This kind of lashing out (the admission that all Israelis are considered war criminals, the word salad, the seething calls for punitive measures) is reserved for those moments of jealous confrontation with the fact that Israel is a genuine democracy. It will always be preferable as an ally to the kleptocrats who govern Tlaib's family and friends.

As my colleague Ken Jacobson writes, one can advocate for Palestinian rights without delegitimizing Israel or demonizing Israelis. Being pro-Palestinian should be about improving the lives of Palestinians, not a cover for anti-Israel hostility.
As ADL's Ken Jacobson writes in @TimesofIsrael, “Far too often in post-10/7 demonstrations around the world, what is characterized as pro-Palestinian is more accurately described as anti-Israeli, with a clear purpose of delegitimizing the Jewish state and, many times, encouraging or justifying violence toward Israelis and Jews.”
Being pro-Palestinian should mean wanting to improve the lives of Palestinians, not delegitimizing the Jewish state. And that distinction is crucial if we want to move closer to peace.

I have spoken out against anti-Muslim hate in the Michigan Senate race. I will speak out just as loudly when the target is Jewish people.
Let me state a little-known fact: ISRAEL GETS LESS THAN 0.1 PERCENT OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET. That’s less than one tenth of a percent!
But there is an ad running that tells voters they can’t afford groceries because the United States gives so much money to Israel. In reality, the United States spends money in and on countries all around the world – but this ad singles out the Jewish state. The ad is as dangerous as it is dishonest.
You can disagree with how the United States spends money abroad. But telling hungry families that the Jewish state is the reason they are suffering is wrong and shameful.
Blaming Jews for people’s problems is an old story. Anybody who has read the last century of history knows where it leads. It is a dark pathway.
This ad is anti-Jewish hate and should come down immediately. Abdul El-Sayed should denounce it today.

As I travel throughout the Middle East, watching the Israeli campaign and now the Israeli election from #Arab capitals, I see that some prominent Americans are already planting their flag in the sand before the votes are counted, well before a government is formed.
They are saying this:
“We don’t really care how war-weary #Israelis vote …
“We don’t really respect that they have maintained a remarkably vibrant democracy in the face of all they’ve been through…
“We don’t really acknowledge that perhaps, after three years of war, they know something about their predicament that we, thousands of miles away, don’t know …
"Our view is that we know better. We know the solution. Let's just get on with it. Anything less is unacceptable. If a new government only shifts 30, 60 or 90 degrees when we demand a 180-degree change in policy, that's not acceptable. In fact, it's reprehensible. And we should plan now to penalize Israelis for having the audacity to choose a future different from the one we know is right."
This is wrong - both as principle and as policy. And it’s an approach that will only make the achievement of a secure and lasting peace -- for #Israelis, for #Palestinians and for the entire #MiddleEast -- far more difficult than it already is.
