🌿🌼 Exciting new publication from the Kersch-Becker Lab! Our latest research reveals the interactive effects of goldenrod ramet density and herbivory on floral volatile emissions 🌼🐛. Big congratulations to Jake on this fantastic work! 👏 @Botanical_ doi.org/10.1002/ajb2.16414
🌿 New publication alert! 🌿Arash's latest work shows how stomatal closure blocks the entry of green leaf volatiles, disrupting damage-associated signaling. Congrats on this exciting research! 👏
I'm happy to share that another part of my PhD research has been published in the Journal of Experimental Botany (@JXBot ).

NASA’s Global Flood Product shows extensive flooding in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil on May 6, after the devastating heavy rains in the region. The 1-day product is shown here, with #flooding in red, and normal surface water in blue.
Learn about the data: go.nasa.gov/3wteBxd

ALT The NASA MODIS flood product is shown over a portion of Rio Grande do Sul state in southern Brazil, showing extensive flooding along the Jacui River. The displayed layer is the 1-day flood layer in the MCDWD flood product from May 6, 2024, over tiles h12v12 and h12v11. The background image is the MODIS/Aqua true-color image from the same date. The floods in Brazil persist, revealing critical shortcomings in disaster management. Here is my take:
📣Communication failures exacerbated the crisis. While Metsul and CEMADEN issued alerts, many districts did not react. They lack Civil Defense coordination & contingency plans

Hi everyone! How are you?
I'm here to talk a bit about what's happening in the South of Brazil.
The state of Rio Grande do Sul is experiencing a climatic tragedy, considered the worst we've ever had in Brazil.
Due to heavy rains, there have been numerous floods in many different cities, and many people have lost everything: their homes, their cars, and unfortunately, even family members.
That's why, over the next 4 days, I'll be hosting a charity livestream to raise funds to send to the families affected by this tragedy.
I'm counting on your help; Brazil needs assistance!
Heartbroken to witness the devastation caused by the worst natural disaster in Brazil's history. My state has been ravaged, with over half of my 200K home town displaced from their homes and over 100 lives lost. 💔 #ClimateAction #BrazilFloods
