With N20m, you can invest in learning to drive trucks or large delivery vans, learn a skill like plumbing and build 1 to 2 year experience while preparing to sponsor yourself for a masters degree somewhere in Europe.
Instead of working as a cleaner or doing menial jobs for 20hrs a week, you can swap your drivers' license and drive delivery trucks or use your plumbing skills (depending on the regulations in the country). There’s shortage of people with these type of skills anyways. This plan to drive or become a plumber is a fallback strategy if you don’t get a student job in your actual field.
But you’d rather buy a 2013 used car with 140k+ miles wrapped in nylon.
The reason you can’t think this clearly is because even without money, you really don’t have a plan for your life. You just want to make money and will decide later what to do with your life when you make it.
Every time I say it, I get dragged, but I’ll say it again. Money is not the bottleneck. And I dare say, with the advancements in AI, even intelligence is no longer a bottleneck. There are a lot of AI chatbots you can outsource thinking to.
The issue is and has always been the willingness to do something, no matter how small, that leads to the goals you’ve set for yourself. This means you’ll still show up even on days you don’t feel like it.
The main issue with wasting your first N20m is that you’ll be worse off than when you did not have it because you’d have exponentially increased your taste and lifestyle. You only realise your stupidity when you’re broke again.
Real and sustainable wealth is incremental. If you don’t make money slow and steady and get used to money gradually, it will destroy you.
