🌟Congratulations to Prof Bill Newman, Rare Conditions Co-Theme Lead, and all our Manchester BRC colleagues involved in the PALOH (Pharmacogenetics to Avoid Loss of Hearing) study team on this fantastic achievement 👏
A ground-breaking genetic test that could prevent critically ill newborn babies going deaf is being trialled at 14 NHS neonatal units across the UK.
Developed by researchers at @MFT_SaintMarys, @MFTnhs, @OfficialUoM and @ManchesterBRC, in collaboration with @genedriveplc.

A great @NIHRresearch scholars session this week, when I finally got a chance to meet colleagues I've only seen in the context of Outlook emails!
Some fantastic sessions on implementation and building resilience, and I particularly enjoyed challenging my perceptions with a sociological way of thinking when approaching healthcare research
We also had a great talk from the director of the #NIHR Research for Patient Benefit (RfPB) Programme, Prof Kevin Munro
#NWRSP5 also enjoyed a gentle debrief🍺 afterwards. Sometimes a bit of social lubrication can help generate new approaches and ideas.
