Approximately 12 MILLION UK PLAYSTATION CUSTOMERS. ONE MAJOR LAWSUIT. Sony is defending allegations that it abused its market position by forcing digital purchases through the PlayStation Store, restricting competition, and allowing inflated prices. Sony denies wrongdoing. The checkbook always hushes things nicely. The trial concluded in May, and a judgment remains pending. Now, here's our question for Sony's board. If your business model is so wonderful for consumers, why are millions of those consumers represented in a multibillion-dollar lawsuit challenging it? Sony argues that its store commissions support the PlayStation ecosystem. Gamers might argue they've already paid for that ecosystem when they purchased the hardware. How many what times does a gamer need to pay for that PlayStation. It may as well be a prison. Sony's board and executive management need to explain why customer choice remains so limited. Gamers, this is exactly.why we've been demanding accountability. This isn't just about one game. It's about who controls the marketplace after you've purchased the console. Sony shareholders, November 5 is approaching. Maybe it's time to ask management whether squeezing more revenue from a captive storefront is worth the legal and reputational risk.
