A short while ago, I spoke with our comrade Olivia Lutaaya and welcomed her back from the long period of unjustified detention. I am glad that her conviction has not been diminished by the criminal regime's persistent persecution. I assured her that the immense sacrifice she, together with other comrades, have made for a better country will never be in vain.

On a very sad note, Hon Charles Matovu, the immediate former MP of Busiro South, who has been trying to reclaim his stolen victory in court has died.
He passed on after a medical challenge that he got abruptly this week.
We shall avail more details about this very sad incident in due course.

Leader of the Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi has urged NRM members and government officials not to label senior party members, including Older Persons MP for Eastern Uganda, Ofwono Opondo, as disloyal for speaking out on alleged abductions in the country.
Ssenyonyi called for open discussion of public concerns, saying leaders should be free to raise issues of national interest without their loyalty being questioned.

UPDATE: Leader of the Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi has called on government institutions and security agencies to respect the law and uphold the rights of citizens. Ssenyonyi was speaking about the disappearance of Eria Jengo, a BABA TV journalist who was reportedly taken by unknown people about three weeks ago. He also called for the immediate release of human rights activist Praise Aloikin Opoloje following her reported abduction at the weekend. Police have since confirmed that Opoloje is in their custody over allegations of misuse of her social media account. #MonitorUpdates

UPDATE: The Prime Minister of Tooro Kingdom (Omuhikirwa), Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, and his deputy, Henry Basaliza Mutegeki, have held a nearly one and a half hour closed door meeting at the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV’s residence in Buziga, Kampala. The Omuhikirwa is expected to address the press after the meeting on arrangements to repatriate King Oyo’s body to Uganda.

A short while ago, I spoke with Hon. Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, our @NUP_Ug Deputy President for Buganda Region. What a delight to see that after several months, he is out of unlawful detention without trial - at least temporarily. As everyone knows, Hon. Kivumbi never committed any offence. The criminals who attacked his home and murdered people are the ones who should be answering for their crimes - and I believe they will, at the right time. For now, we welcome him back, and the other comrades he was detained with.
It is always a great delight to see that even in the midst of so much rot, there are still judicial officers who will rise above the pervasive intimidation and live to their oath.

They're staging these roadblocks inconveniencing citizens everywhere in search for a man who's hiding in plain sight. One would think the Museveni regime learnt from its experience in the bush not to bother searching for anyone the citizens decided to hide, but clearly it didn't.
