Once again Anthony D’Esposito is taking marching orders from MAGA GOP leadership in Washington and selling out New Yorkers by protecting George Santos and keeping him in Congress.

Currently, @UFT is refusing to respond to our request until after the vote count - so the only way to get this information is to put some pressure on officials to do the right thing!

Worried your vote on the @UFT contract might have gotten lost on the mail with the debacle of multiple incorrect return labels?
Email [email protected] and ask him to respond our executive board reps’ request to allow AAA to publish the # of ballots returned from every school.

Thank you @JamaalBowmanNY let’s do this together and change this horrible federal statute that allows for “seamless transition” into Medicare advantage! @FDNYchic we shouldn’t help privatize Medicare and enrich Aetna with taxpayer money at the expense of @nycretirees & Americans

An excellent 90 second explanation for why the new @UFT contract is worthy of a No Vote this week:

The #UFT tentative agreement - not an easy call (though I don’t vote)
pay is REALLY lousy - but alone not enough to choose
Lack of clarity on upcoming health care cuts tips the scales - I recommnd a No Vote

The Municipal Labor Committee has diminished health care for retirees, and now they're coming for us. Rank and file get no vote or voice in their decisions. They ought to serve us, rather than Eric Adams. MLC--What Is It Good For? nyceducator.com/2023/05/mlc-…

Please stop buying sage. Walk into any cutesy boutique or even search Amazon and you’ll find it everywhere. This popularity is causing problems and there are other options. 🧵

Positivity rates are 50% higher now than they were when this advisory was issued. Please #MaskUp in @NYCSchools tomorrow.
If @NYCHealthCommr and @DOEChancellor were allowed to just look out for kids and staff, they'd be issuing mandates, but we can #KeepEachOtherSafe anyway.
Today @NYCHealthCommr issued an advisory as NYC faces high levels of COVID-19, flu and RSV. New Yorkers are strongly urged to wear masks in public indoor settings and crowded outdoor settings: on.nyc.gov/3ULqGDZ

ALT Text reads: COVID-19 Advisory. Everyone should wear a mask: At all times when in an indoor public setting, including inside stores, offices, lobbies, hallways, elevators, public transportation, schools, child care facilities, and other public shared spaces; In crowded outdoor settings; If you’re sick and unable to separate from others, such as when traveling to and from a health care provider, picking up groceries

Our union, @UFT, is now forced to negotiate against leadership rather than the city. This is absurd. Leadership doesn't seem to even know what union is. Leadership negotiating policy is depicted below: nyceducator.com/2022/12/uft-…

Our leadership made a terrible deal without our input. Now they want us to pay for it, quite literally. If you believe the city's contributing less money to our health care reflects savings for us, I have a bridge to sell you. nyceducator.com/2022/11/uft-…

The votes keep coming. 97% feel @UFT’s Michael Mulgrew deserves a VOTE of NO CONFIDENCE for how he’s handled our healthcare and how he’s unilaterally made decisions changing our contract during the pandemic emergency.

Many are calling for a NO CONFIDENCE VOTE of UFT President Michael Mulgrew for his unilateral decisions regarding changes to our contract during the pandemic emergency & placing our premium free healthcare in danger with backroom deals. Agree?

The big challenge for whoever takes this on is that the reason people went to the visitor and education center was because of the telescope, and the education programs involved interacting with scientists at the telescope. How do you do this with no telescope and no scientists?
The National Science Foundation will not rebuild the renowned telescope at the Arecibo Observatory, in Puerto Rico, which was used for years to search for asteroids, planets & extraterrestrial life. Instead, it intends to build an education center there. apnews.com/article/astronomy…

NYC school paraprofessionals are ridiculously underpaid.
I hope rectifying this is a focus for @UFT in upcoming contract negotiations.

Tried to ask @NYCMayor the $469 million question: when will he #RestoreTheCuts to public schools? 1st he said "don't know where you are getting that # from" (@NYCComptroller!) then said he would respect court decision (currently appealing their decision.) (S/O to @KimberlyTyre3!)

This is the kind of energy and PUBLIC MESSAGING that I want to see from @uft. We have let the Mayor push us around over this budget; imagine how he will be during contract negotiations this fall. Now is the time to build our strength and rally the rank and file! @MOREcaucusUFT

Please read this thread to understand the problems with elected officials taking funds from public schools while simultaneously giving funds to charter schools. #fundourschools #publiceducation #supportourschools
There's a big question we need to ask about @NYCMayor school cuts:
Why would a mayor who campaigned heavily on education AND had more than enough federal $ to avoid these cuts decide to pick an ugly fight? 🤔
There is one way it makes sense.
