Sanjay, its been just a few weeks when you (as always) hosted me so graciously at your home. It’s a known fact that other than movies, you were so passionate about books and food. So many memories attached to our last visit.
First that looooooong chat about movies at your office with the most stocked library that I have ever seen at a residence. The passion you shared about books and filmmaking and more was infectious. “Jogi, yeh waali book padhna screenwriting par. You won’t be able to put it down”.
And then when we went upstairs for dining with Ebbu joining us as well. You supervised each and every food item that came on the table. You were throughout talking to your cook, enquiring that whether everything has been made to perfection, and then like a quintessential dildaar Punjabi host, you practically served every item on our plates. You didn’t have to, but your love showed in every bite that was served. “Jogi, yeh khatti daal try kar”!
And yes, white wine flowed. It always did.
Everyone has their “Sanjay Gupta story”. I too have many of those. For now, this is the one which is the latest and the closest. More to follow on scripts, movies, actors, stars, nostalgia, music, relationships, and more.
I have lost a friend, and the man with whom taking movies was magic, and infectious.
