For International Day of Solidarity, I decided to share a wood slice ornament I painted. Here’s hoping for a world without military occupation and apartheid, one where Palestinians are free. πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ πŸ‰ #InternationalDayOfSolidarity

Thank you to all of the courageous people out there who continue to mask, even when it’s not the popular choice!

Oh, we’re interjecting. It’s every bit as annoying when people keep past-tensing an ongoing pandemic - doing the narrative dirty work of those who would prefer to erase the widespread consequences of short-term economy-driven choices.
I know that it is never actually going to go away at this point but it is so annoying when you use the phrase "during the pandemic" to refer to 2020 and 2021 and the person you're talking to interjects with "we're actually still in the pandemic btw"

Do you ever think about how many lives could have been saved if we had focused on cleaning the air and not surfaces when it comes to airborne viruses like the flu, RSV, and COVID? Clean indoor air can save so many lives

Healthcare and capitalism cannot coincide. Any system that values profit over people will be rooted in pure eugenics.
NEW: The Trump admin is using AI to analyze Medicare prior authorizations, and companies get 25% of the "savings" the system generates. We found Carlyle Group and Patient Square Capital, private equity firms, backing this process. It's the latest oligarch attack on healthcare.

Can corporations stop shoving genAI into everything? I really don’t want to experience triple digit autumns. 😭

I’m not sure why people are surprised John Cook supports Trump. He’s an older white man from the greater San Diego area. 😭

Key takeaway this week: do not trust reporters with disability related topics who dont have disability beats or community trust. Theyll do ableist harm to you and to the disabled community at large. Ableism is the status quo, dont be surprised when ppl lean in for $

The venn diagram btw leftists who: - Believe that forced institutionalization and eugenics in the 1900s was bad And - Do not want disabled people in public spaces demanding access Is basically just an overlapping circle at this point.

Something I have learned about ableism by being disabled is abled-bodied people are not owed a lack of disruption. The desire to live undisrupted by disabled people is eugenics. Disrupted bodies and minds have an absolute right to exist freely.
Everyone’s noticed the ever-increasing rhetoric in higher ed, fueled significantly by pandemic anger and this country’s turn to the Right, regarding how disruptive disabled students are, right?

And yet, the overwhelming majority of our prominent researchers, politicians, and institutional leaders are failing to model responsible mitigation, demonstrating a shocking lack of self-preservation, professional responsibility, and community care.

β€œLiddal said she had not seen sickness-related absences this high in her 30-year teaching career, other than during Covid-19.” So, other than now? Because during COVID is now, which is why there are so many sickness-related absences. Round and round we go. 🫠

Very tired of seeing anti-AI arguments in higher ed being made via ableist, sanist, and illness language and metaphors. Yes I know you hate sick people. Yes I know you hate AI. Yes I know why you equate sick with bad and bad with sick. We are not in this together.

Liberals stop describing entirely logical outcomes as β€œinsane” challenge. It’s their favorite descriptive word because of ableism/sanism, used as a tool to distance themselves from reality and from responsibility for they could never be.
