Twitter is the only social media platform I ever liked. I was hoping it may one day return.
In the meantime, I'm trying to migrate to either Threads or Bluesky. Follow me there:

Per a note to Boston Globe staff today, the lesbian bar story generated 1,000 subscriptions to the paper yesterday. The Globe’s managing editor said it was “by far our best performing story of the year,” and appears to be “on pace to shatter all sorts of Globe records.”

On Friday, President Trump said he is planning to ban CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House for reporting what he called “fake news.”
“A ban like this would be flatly unconstitutional,” said @rcfp President Bruce D. Brown. Our full statement: rcfp.org/statement-white-hou…

ALT A quote from RCFP President Bruce D. Brown: “A ban like this would be flatly unconstitutional. The First Amendment is clear that once the White House invites in some journalists, it can't ban others because it doesn't like their reporting. This is textbook viewpoint discrimination and will be quickly struck down by the courts if challenged.”
The @USConst_Amend_I First Amendment says he can't do this. He will be sued. He will lose, again. He will also continue not to be held accountable for his continued illegal actions.

McClatchy says it eliminated the things its readers don’t care about. Eliminating the Sacramento Bee’s entire sports department makes that argument pretty hard to take seriously.
Sacramento has professional sports, multiple Division I programs and some of the best high school athletes in California. Sports isn’t some obscure niche here. I don’t believe for one second that readers suddenly stopped caring about sports.
So let’s call this what it is. A corporate suit working for a hedge fund decided quality sports coverage wasn’t worth paying for.

The US government now holds equity stakes in 30 private companies, up from zero just over a year ago. In some cases, it's the largest shareholder.
This raises massive questions about capital misallocation, government neutrality, and cronyism, says @scottlincicome on @MSNOWNews.

Yes millennials famously the generation that JUST WILL NOT LEAVE politics and has been responsible for 100% of all created national debt.
Whatever one thinks about this clip, today’s children will likely never forgive the insane national debt that millennials, Gen X, Boomers and others are saddling them with.
Debt held by the public will reach 175 percent of GDP by 2056.

Yes, it’s alarming that the U.S. government, under this administration, has been acquiring ownership of companies like Intel, MP Materials, and U.S. Steel.
Social Security is an odd defense of the status quo, anyway. Labor & liberals reshaped the Democratic Party in the 30s; FDR, Dems and 97 Republicans passed it.
By Art's logic, that coalition should have sat down? It then kept Democrats in power for two decades...
1/8 Interesting column from Art Cullen, defending the two-party system. He cites three accomplishments it has brought us: Social Security, Medicare and the end of slavery. The most recent happened 61 years ago. Odd examples of a "working" system. @SLTimes

Susan Collins voting against a controversial nominee is basically the moment it becomes clear that nominee will be confirmed. It means Thune has enough votes to confirm, and thus, Collins gets a pass to look independent.

7/8 Some say DSA candidates should form their own party. That ignores the system they’re operating in. Run third-party and they’re accused of helping the "worse" major-party candidate win; voters who want something different are told supporting them would waste their vote.
