I remember when a youth pastor was fired for “inappropriate texting” w/ a teen. Of course, they never gave details.
6 yrs later i heard what the text said. I felt physically ill and furious.
I learned that day when a church says “inappropriate” it is almost never the right word
Their shock this week
Exactly. They watched their covid denying loved ones die- and simultaneously denied anyone was dying from it

They’ll learn about as much as the pandemic denialists who ended up in the ER with Covid did
It’s the resources, Eli.
It’s not being good.
It’s not the prayers.
And it’s only the “friends” if they have resources.
It’s the resources.
It’s all about money and if you have enough.
Way better men than Samuel with more friends who begged God were deported.

All this talk about a good Christian man with paperwork issues made me very curious so I did a little googling.
Just how ubiquitous as these "paperwork" illegals?
It turns out that 45% of undocumented immigrants entered the US legally with the right documents and for one reason or another have been unable or neglected to extend their paperwork.
That is MILLIONS of people.
The Christian nationalists was perfectly content to demonize them and break up their families until it happened to a friend.
Classic.

1/ Joel has spent years helping build the ecosystem that coddled and supported the white supremacists he now tries to decry. He spent years celebrating the abuse of political power to the hurt of migrants, strangers, and others.

This has been probably the darkest 24 hours I’ve ever experienced on social media in my life. The things being said about Samuel, his wife, and his small children are unthinkably evil. There is a segment of the so-called “Christian” nationalist crowd that has given itself completely over to Satan. I’ve never had more resolve to defeat these subversive demons invading the Right and invading Christianity.

Very long-winded conservative way of saying I only care about MY friends.
Yes, happy to explain. I don’t think it’s wise to let your opinion of an entire immigration policy be dictated by outlier cases, tragic cases, or sad stories. I also support the second amendment even when there are tragic cases of gun violence.
I support ICE and I believe mass deportations are necessary. I believe in law and order and I believe in justice. So does Samuel Sey. I don’t fault ICE for doing its job. I also believe in helping friends when you can, and also believe that mercy is sometimes appropriate. I know Samuel—he’s a good man of integrity. He has made good faith effort to file the right paperwork and comply with the law. He didn’t deceive or purposefully break the law. He would make an excellent American citizen. I hope he can become one someday.
There are many other similar cases, I’m sure. It doesn’t change my opinion. All we can do is support justice as well as we can, and extend mercy where appropriate to the best of our ability. You might find this inconsistent, but I don’t. It’s just part of living in a messy world.
Joel Berry’s mentions fill up w/ the exact level of hateful trash he cultivated at the Bee but he will never see the connection & he won’t even learn the slightest lesson. He & his friends will continue to play the victims as they dramatically bemoan “victim mentality”

When it’s someone they know, they say he’s “a good man” and give him the benefit of the doubt.
But when it’s just some working class Spanish-speaking husband and father, they say, “I voted for this.”
I’m not at liberty to share all the details, but suffice it to say that many people rejoicing over this have given a completely incorrect rendering of what occurred and why.
ICE did not come to his home. This whole thing is a paperwork issue that they’re working to resolve.
Samuel Sey is a good man. As you can imagine, his wife, who’s at home with their 3 babies, is devastated and also trusting the Lord to help them find a resolution quickly. Please pray for all of the Seys. Pray for wisdom and provision.
Those celebrating because they don’t like something Sam said are slanderous backbiters and gossips. Pay them no mind

"This has been a terrible experience for his family."
Yes, and now think of how many mistakes ICE/DHS make if this do this to someone innocent? Think how how it is destructive to families when you don't go after "the worst of the worst," as the Admin said they would
Earlier this week, our dear brother Samuel Sey @SlowToWrite was en route to appear on our podcast when he got detained by ICE. Samuel is from Canada, and has been living here as a legal resident of the United States. We are confident this clerical mistake will be fixed, but this has been a terrible experience for his family.
Please consider supporting his lovely wife Annie and their three small children as they deal with the legal and living expenses of this terrible ordeal.
If you know Samuel, you know what a good man of character he is. So many of us have been blessed by his writing and ministry. Please help! givesendgo.com/support-for-s…
