One of our officers discovered some coal in Harlington when an applicant was digging their foundations, and it got us thinking about our town's mining history and our relationship with the South Yorkshire Mining Advisory Service.
South Yorkshire Mining Advisory Service provides a range of services including mineral and stability reports, planning advice, vetting of Building Regulations applications, spoil tip inspections and help with subsidence claims.
It is handled by @BarnsleyCouncil - doncaster.gov.uk/services/pl…
Barnsley Council in this role look at all Doncaster Building Control Applications and report back with any geographical faults etc.
