We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our colleague and friend, Firefighter Beccy Barr. Beccy was a dedicated and courageous firefighter who served with professionalism and compassion. She was an enthusiastic and warm person who became an inspiration to many.

I’m sharing the very sad news that Beccy passed away peacefully this morning. She spent her last few days at @SJHospice who provided the most dignified & compassionate care to Beccy & her whole family. Donations to the hospice can be made in Beccy’s memory. ❤️

Today, some of our colleagues are partaking it "I'm not a Muslim but I will fast (for one day)". This is community initiative by @1VoiceBlackburn. They will collectively observe a day-long fast before concluding at 6:30pm to prayer and break the fast with an Iftari meal.

Last month, firefighters attended 16 fires caused by heating. Some were minor incidents, some were serious fires causing damage to homes. Be extra cautious using heating appliances and test smoke alarms weekly. Please don't think this could never happen to you. #BeSafeAndSave

When did you last clean your smoke alarm? You can simply use the soft brush of your vacuum or a feather duster to remove any excess dust. This is a quick task which could be completed after your monthly test. By looking after your alarms they can keep looking after you!
