Alright... I am going to get Eric Dettman's webinar- Elite Doesn't Mean Different: Training the Superstar Athlete uploaded later today.
I will tell you, I felt like I was getting all of the "secrets" to one of the top programs in the country as I watched along last night.

This. 100% this. And any coach who thinks or says otherwise is incredibly selfish. Ask any great in any sport and the first thing they mention is their team. Our greatest “stars” have also been some of our greatest teammates.
Thought of the morning… Running and listening to a podcast with Mike Smith formerly of NAU and hearing him talk about the beauty of the sport and the power of the team.
Mike touches on how he gave Nico Young a race plan for the NCAA championships that might sacrifice Nico’s chances for an individual win and Nico understood the assignment because that would be what was best for his team. Nico didn’t flinch.
Cross country is a team sport. The most raw team sport there is in my opinion.
For a coach, private or otherwise to vocalize that individuality is all that matters while tearing down the importance of team is ruining the beauty of what cross country is and robbing their athletes of what it means to be part of a team. To be part of something bigger than just yourself.
I love this sport because it’s a team game.
