On this last day of Fair Housing month while we preserve over COVID-19, let’s remember the words of Rep. Shirley Chisholm from 1973 (1 of 3).

President Trump made a grave error on several levels by taking over MPD and deploying the DC National Guard without DC's agreement.
He violated the principle of consent of the governed, on which America was founded, and he unintentionally made the strongest possible case for #DCStatehood.

Being hypervigilant doesn’t mean you’re “too dramatic” or “attention seeking.”
LITERALLY, your amygdala is big + pulsating, your stress hormones are dousing your entire being.
It’s not so easy to “just turn it off”
Healing CAN change the amygdala’s response-stay gentle.
I’ll be tracking this closely and I am excited this is @SIfill_’s next chapter. This is a blessing and act of supreme service to this country. – at Washington, DC

Yesterday, as part of the @DC_OCA Speaker Series, #ORE hosted a learning series for staff. As an ending to #PrideMonth, the panel discussed the intersection of race, sexual orientation & identity and provided a racial equity lens to target the LGBTQIA+ community. #RacialEquity
It’s hasn’t been hundred years since Brown or Civil Rights Act of 1964. Ancestors -Black, Latino, Native American folx and Asian American deprived of an education that experienced the trauma of the past have been disrespected. This isn’t the spirit of Brown.
Hallelujah, can we get some copying up in here!

What doesn’t kill you can:
•dysregulate your nervous system
•trap itself in your body
•steal your sense of self
•make you wish it did
I don’t know what “makes you stronger” means but
let’s stop glorifying trauma as a life-lesson we’ve been blessed with.

I wanted to share some of my thoughts on today's Supreme Court decision on affirmative action:

Justice Jackson wrote, “The court has come to rest on the conclusion that racial diversity in higher education is only worth preserving insofar as it might be needed to prepare Black Americans and other underrepresented minorities for success in the bunker, not the boardroom.”
SMH Affirmative Action almost gone, how does the country move on without tools to create equity?

For context: Moore’s predecessor, Larry Hogan, killed the Red Line in 2015 and rerouted state transportation dollars to highway, road, and bridge projects, a number of which were next to properties his real estate firm owned, thereby boosting their value.

I'm proud to join @mtamaryland & community leaders in Baltimore to announce the relaunch of a major transit investment, the Red Line.
This project will increase east-west connectivity while improving the lives of residents.

Glad this is happening for Baltimore. The 2015 cancellation was the boondoggle in my opinion. How many jobs could have been created, small businesses, people making new choices for their futures. Imagine how many homeowners could have been created in the region.
