A great morning representing @WaLORPM with @AdrianRamsay. There really is potential for a nature-based solution that brings stability for landowners, climate resilience to communities and space for nature. Multi-sector Collaboration is key. @EnvAgency @DefraGovUK @suffolkwildlife
I visited the River Waveney floodplain with Daniel @AcroDWade from @SuffolkWildlife to look at plans for an inspiring river re-meandering and landscape recovery project - a win for nature, flood management and carbon capture. We need @DefraGovUK to back this project and many more like it to help #NatureRecovery.

A pleasure to speak at a packed AGM of Little Ouse Headwaters Project.
It's inspiring to see so many volunteers involved in the fantastic work for landscape scale nature recovery.
Nature recovery needs far higher priority across government to meet crucial targets

This is such a retrograde step. Supporting farmers to protect the environment is vital if we are to restore nature & reverse the decline in wildlife. Many want to do this - but need the financial support
Cutting it off lets down those farmers who've risen to the challenge & puts nature recovery at risk. Govt should think again

It was good to meet trustees of the Little Ouse Headwaters Project to hear about progress in caring for this section of the river
The project manages areas of land alongside the Little Ouse river, with the aim of increasing biodiversity & more public access @LOHProject

A year ago the @HolkhamEstate with the @N_Rivers_Trust & Charles Rangeley Wilson embarked on a project to reconnect an ancient chalk stream back to the floodplain
This is the result, amazing what you can achieve when you work collectively allow nature some space

With four new @TheGreenParty MPs we will work constructively with the Government where we agree, but also push them to be bolder, whether that's on defending the #environment, or restoring public services. Wonderful chatting with @tamcohen on @SkyNews earlier today after my first speech in @UKParliament.
If you'd like to see more Green MPs and councillors elected, you can do just that by joining as a member today: join.greenparty.org.uk/?mtm_…

Honoured that @greatousert wanted to find out about my river snorkelling in the Great Ouse catchment, which began July 2020, a silver lining of the lockdown. It's led to many adventures

Minotaur Beetles currently very active on the Suffolk Sandlings with many freshly-excavated burrows and some adults walking about in the open - the males with three long, pointed horns! An unusually 'red' male here too (from 2015) @DunwichHeathNT @suffolkwildlife @SuffolkBIS

Back to Little Ouse (18.7°C) swimming 1km up from Brandon to again revel in the aquarium like, fish-packed tranquility. A tame young (or ♀️?) Mandarin Duck was top prize. Fun to see Perfoliate Pondweed flowers & pretty Ramshorn Snails. xitter.cf/numenini/status/155771… #BirdsSeenIn2022 1/5
Glorious swim (rather than snootle) in 1-3m of lovely clear, cool (18.3°C) water, 0.5km up gently flowing Little Ouse from Brandon. Mute Swan family disgruntled to share river. Me disgruntled to find most ginormous illegal crayfish trap have ever seen #MySwim #BirdsSeenIn2022 1/7
