Maddow: It is Black women who won every single one of those races in Georgia for the Democrats—governor, secretary of state, attorney general, agriculture commissioner, insurance commissioner, school superintendent, labor commissioner and public service commissioner.

I can't say I'm much a fan of Gavin Newsom, but credit where it's due: commuting all 548 death sentences in California is the right move. In one fell swoop, he just took a quarter of the nation's death sentences off the table. Pretty amazing.

Katherine Clark: "There is one image that has stuck with me. It's the video of the memorial to Alex Pretti and Renee Good. It is covered with 'I Voted' stickers. Hundreds and hundreds of people went to that memorial and put that sticker there. Each one placed by an American who cast their ballot in the ultimate act of hope."

Keisha Lance Bottoms is the great-great-granddaughter of an enslaved man named Sheppard Peek.
She will soon live in the Georgia Governor’s Mansion, mere miles from where he was enslaved, as the first-ever Black woman elected Governor.

This one really got me. ❤️😭
EL-SAYED: “to all the parents who struggled to explain to their kids why the president openly mocks someone for their name or how they pray, let them know tomorrow that the bad guys lost.”

I stopped by Renee and Alex’s memorials today and was inspired to see all those who showed up to pay their respects and leave an “I voted” sticker.
We have not forgotten. Accountability is coming.

Profoundly heartbreaking to see voters from Texas to Minnesota leave their “I Voted” stickers at memorials for people killed by Trump’s ICE agents.
A reminder of what’s at stake this election.

My wife woke me at 3 a.m. with a pain in her jaw and a tight feeling across her chest. She was 44. We drove to the ER. The doctor on shift listened for about ninety seconds and said, "It's anxiety. You've been under stress. Take a deep breath."
She was sweating through her shirt. She kept saying, "It doesn't feel like anxiety."
He nodded and wrote something. A discharge form came out of the printer.
A triage nurse was passing the room with a cart. She slowed down, looked at my wife's face, then at the printer, then at me. "Has anyone done an ECG?"
"The doctor said it's not necessary," I said.
Here’s one of the most fascinating child development videos I’ve ever shared.
As your baby learns language, they begin by approximating the examples you set.
After a period of early experimentation with sound (including cries, coos and gurgles), infants begin babbling - making speech-like sounds (which often include components of conventional speech) that are - nonetheless - not yet conventionally meaningful.
This babbling phase is a precursor to the use of formal words. And it happens in all languages.
Including sign language.
This video shows an infant (who, by the way, is not hearing impaired) “babbling” to her deaf grandparents.
As they sign to her, she responds in kind, using her hands to approximate the signed communication that they are modeling.
It’s a whole serve and return conversation, just as if they were conversing verbally.
If you’ll watch carefully, you’ll note distinct turn taking.
And - interestingly - that with her grandparents she largely avoids vocalizations, in favor of gesture.
What a treat to see this rich example of bilingual language development.
