President of our private equity business, David Nanus, recently joined a panel at the 2026 @Tulane Future of Energy Forum to discuss how investors are evaluating opportunities across traditional energy, infrastructure and emerging technologies.
The conversation covered a lot of ground — from the forces driving today's energy landscape to how surging demand is outpacing new supply, creating durably high prices and the opportunity for thoughtful investment to move the needle.
“In a period of durably high [energy] prices, there are plenty of ways as an investor to create opportunities that reduce costs and become part of the solution”

Most energy companies specialize — they develop, own or operate. For over 30 years, LS Power has done all three.
That integration shapes how we approach every asset, every market and every decision we make across generation, storage and transmission.
In a moment when the grid needs more of everything, here's what that means in practice.

The SWIP-North transmission link showcases the strength of innovation & collaboration between @lspowergrid, @NVEnergy, @idahopower and CAISO. ⚡
Energy security and innovation are often framed as competing priorities. They don't have to be.
The grid needs reliable, around-the-clock capacity and it needs new technology, new approaches and new investment to meet demand that's growing faster than anyone anticipated. Competitive markets, when given durable rules and the right price signals, can deliver both.
Our CEO Paul Segal made that case on the @TheEnergyGang podcast and what it actually takes to build a grid that is resilient, innovative and ready to respond.

Tomorrow, @FERC's dispute resolution process begins on PJM governance reform, with the end of September as the deadline for PJM to reach agreement before FERC steps in.
As our SVP of Wholesale Market Policy Marji Philips outlined in pre-technical conference comments to FERC: the most consequential work is in the market rules, interconnection processes and permitting frameworks that determine how quickly new capacity can come online.
The outcomes of this proceeding will ripple through market design, investment decisions and grid reliability. Done right, this is an opportunity to strengthen the framework that has delivered reliable electricity through competitive markets for over 30 years.

FERC Order 1000 opened electricity transmission to competition in 2011 with the goal of better outcomes for electricity consumers. 15 years later, the results are clear.
According to a 2026 R Street Institute (@RSI) analysis, competitive transmission projects deliver approximately 30% cost savings compared to incumbent utility-developed projects and have come online faster or just as fast in most major planning regions.
The case for competitive transmission has never been stronger.

The energy policy landscape is evolving — and with it, the conditions under which infrastructure gets financed and built.
Tariffs, changes to tax credits and sourcing requirements are shaping how capital is deployed and which projects move forward.
At a time when power demand is growing at rates we haven’t seen in decades, these shifts matter. They affect project timelines, capital-allocation decisions and, ultimately, how quickly new capacity reaches the grid.
“When you have these kinds of abrupt policy changes … it’s going to have a real implication, especially when markets are tight.” — Darpan Kapadia, COO

The debate over who pays for power in the data center era has moved from industry conversation to federal legislation.
The White House Ratepayer Protection Pledge, the Ratepayer Protection Act moving through Congress and new large-load tariffs taking effect across multiple states all reflect the same core principle our CEO Paul Segal laid out earlier this year: "households shouldn't pick up the tab for incremental data center demand."
The good news is that workable pathways exist, and done right, data centers can get faster time-to-power and greater certainty, while communities get real investment, not higher bills.

NEWS: LS Power has entered into a definitive agreement with @ConstellationEG to acquire the Brazos Valley Energy Center, a 606 MW natural gas-fired combined-cycle facility located outside Houston, Texas.
The acquisition expands LS Power's generation fleet in ERCOT, one of the most active power markets in the country. Combined with LS Power's previously announced agreement to acquire a 4,353 MW portfolio of five gas-fired generation assets in PJM from Constellation, the firm's national operating fleet will total approximately 14,100 MW upon closing of both transactions.
“Acquiring and optimizing proven assets is one of the fastest and most cost-effective ways to meet [rapidly increasing demand for electricity], and natural gas is well-positioned to provide the reliable, around-the-clock capacity the market requires.” — Paul Segal, CEO
