In 1962, a 37-year-old man from England named Brendon Grimshaw suddenly quit his job and bought a small island in the Seychelles for about $10,000. The island was called Moyenne and, at the time of purchase, had been abandoned for 50 years. Everyone thought the man was crazy. Brendon eventually moved to the island permanently as its sole inhabitant. While most people tend to buy islands for luxury, Brendon had a broader vision. He wanted to restore the island to its raw beauty, creating a natural paradise completely uncontaminated by man and tourism. For the next 40 years, Brendon lived alone on the island; he managed to plant 16,000 trees by hand, built 5 km of nature trails and attracted around 2,000 new birds to the island. Brendon had transformed a desert land into an island of incredible beauty, Moyenne was so beautiful that Brendon was offered 50 million dollars by a Saudi prince, but he turned it down. Since Brendon died in 2012, the island has been owned by the Moyenne Island Foundation and is now a national park available to all thanks to his efforts. I’ve been looking at low frequency bus route performance’s in Waltham Forest cycling heavan mini holand. The reason I looked at low frequency is because unlike high frequency you can’t hide delays. I would say 90% of the routes were extremely poor performing. Many not hitting minimum standard for the whole year .. here is an example bus route 215 … shocking data. All data available online TFL website. Nothing confidential posted.

39 Amersham Road, Harold Hill, Romford, RM3 was the location and James and Maureen Patterson received the deeds from Margaret Thatcher paying £8,315 pounds for the property. #Havering #HaroldHill #Righttobuy
It’s palpably clear that John Healey will never forgive Margaret Thatcher for giving families like mine the opportunity to buy their council houses & own their own homes. You can hear it in the way they talk about it.

NEW - a serious legal loophole has been exposed: sentences in youth courts cannot be challenged for being ‘unduly lenient’. In this case, a 14-year-old boy who stabbed a girl in the neck in a “terrifying, premeditated & persistent” attack received a non-custodial referral order for wounding with intent. Had the sentence been imposed at Crown Court the Attorney General could send it to the Court of Appeal for review under the ‘unduly lenient sentence’ scheme, but cases in youth courts (and magistrates courts) are exempted. There are understandably growing calls to close this loophole. I don’t expect many cases would be affected but it’s surely important that there’s a check on those sentences which are so clearly out of kilter.
