Hear my thoughts on launch of Endometriosis APPG’s report into Endometriosis (Not) in the Workplace. Women are losing their physical & mental health, & their careers

“The law is clear for sport competitions designated as ‘women’s competitions’ to ensure fairness or safety - participation is determined based on biological sex.”
A very clear statement from @Steph_Peacock Minister for Sport, during the Sporting Events Bill Committee session 1/

Indeed, the @ScotGovFM is FAR TOO BUSY saying he cares about women to meet the women who forced him to remove male murders from women's prisons where they were locked up with some of the most vulnerable women in Scotland.
Replying to @ForWomenScot
Take it @JohnSwinney still hasn't agreed to meet you? Still? Presume he's scared because he will have to make concrete commitments? @ScotGovFM
"This is a test case not just about an iconic, historic and important single-sex space for women in London but about how the law on single-sex services works everywhere." @SexMattersOrg need our help - please donate if you can, and share widely.

As activists in the Labour and trade union movement we stand firmly with our FWS sisters. We are stalwarts of trade unions - among us are current and former workplace reps, committee members, branch officers, builders of picket lines, you name it. We want unions to support women.
Joy! Now @SeanCMBell, who boasts of bylines in @bellacaledonia & @ScotNational joins in the @NASUWT pile-on.
No we are "wildly hostile" to a failure to support women in the workplace. That's not being hostile to Unions, it's objecting to a failure to fulfil their obligations.
At least deal with what we actually say rather than invent malign intent.

Not only was Equalities Minister, Sumita Kumar unable to define "gender identity" to a Parliament committee, but it seems neither her nor anyone else can define "gender" in her job title.

Are they amending the Draft as they go along? It’s an utter mess @andyburnham and we are pretty sure it doesn’t pass the Makerfield Test.
Bridget Phillipson says the conversion practices bill won't target parents.
There is nothing on the face of the bill that says parents are protected.
She says the test is “serious physical or psychological harm”.
In fact the bill sets the test much lower at “serious alarm or distress…which has a substantial adverse effect on their usual day-to-day activities”.
This could easily capture parents who don't let their child wear a binder or go out dressed as the opposite sex.

'The Scottish government’s lawyers were arguing against us in court very recently for biological men to remain in female jails, failed to support a bill criminalising the purchase of sex and remain silent on men being placed in women’s wards in hospitals.
‘Perhaps instead of soundbites announcing new legislation that will not address the root causes, they should do the hard work around it.’

Translation:
Heavily male-dominated @LGBTLabour thinks men with trans identities should be on women's wards and use women's toilets & changing rooms.
The law says no.
The NHS says no.
Women say no.

🔴 Day 1,852 since the Taliban stopped secondary age girls from going to school in #Afghanistan.
For more than five years, Afghan girls have been robbed of their dreams and their futures. This treatment cannot be normalised any longer.
The world must wake up and condemn this injustice.
You are not forgotten.

Glasgow RC has fought for women for 50 years. Please, give them support @RCCGlasgow thank you for supporting women.
In late 1976, a handful of brave Glaswegian women got a hold of a telephone and a room and started to take phone calls from women who had or were surviving rape and sexual abuse. GCRC began to operate then.
Kickstarting today, with our ‘For Her’ appeal, we plan to take the full year of our 50th Anniversary to honour her, be honest for her, and provide hope for her. We will assess how we have done in realising our appeal ambitions in November 2027.
