As Chairman of Ways and Means I am one of the only people, alongside the Prime Minister and the Chancellor to see the Budget. After the Budget is delivered by the Chancellor, the House of Commons enters four days of debate. Have a question about the Budget and my role? Share it in the comments below. #Budget2026 #BudgetBasics #AskMadamDeputySpeaker

Some good guesses indeed! The extra ingredient in Kentish Rarebit is….drum roll…..apples! 🍏 🍎 Here is a recipe from Theodora FitzGibbon’s “The Art of British Cooking” (1965) for the Kentish dish.
This is the Wikipedia photo for Welsh Rarebit. Does anyone know what we add in Kent to make Kentish Rarebit?

Spreading the word of Russell Hoban. Fantastic must-read old blog post by @KarenJKHart about Hoban’s novel, “Riddley Walker”, set in post-apocalyptic Kent. karenatstepney.wordpress.com…
Replying to @Cantwara_
I have read it so many times. It’s my favourite book. I was lucky enough to see Russ Hoban at two events, when he couldn’t have been kinder discussing the book with fans after. The British Library literally turned out the lights on him, so he got out a torch and carried on.

While @GylesB1 was on #PoohSticksBridge #AshdownForest I was celebrating #WinnieThePooh's 100th Birthday @PoohCornerUK with a friend who shares his birthday! It was packed & full of balloons! The museum was fascinating, including a recording of #AAMilne reading one of his stories
This is the place to be, and this is the day to be there. Me and Michele on Poohsticks Bridge at the Ashdown Forest - the setting for the Hundred Acre Wood in the Winnie the Pooh stories first published 100 years ago today. (My biography of A. A. Milne and his family is out now.)

Full of stories from his lively life, actor #NigelHavers had the audience eating out of his hand (or in one case drinking a fresh Martini!) @ahttw #TunbridgeWells tonight. As to #ChariotsOfFire, one fan asked in all seriousness: “Was it difficult to learn to run in slow-mo?” 🤣
