In the name of Christian unity on Reformation Day, I think we should all agree that Martin Luther was right about the perpetual virginity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
If you don't read the NT with almost every chapter being about Jew~Gentile issues, then you're misunderstanding it.
Romans is not about personal salvation.
It's a book about how Gentiles can become part of the people of God.
If Mary merely means, “I have never had sex,” her question seems less obvious: she is betrothed and could ordinarily expect to have marital relations with Joseph.
If she means, “I do not have sexual relations and do not intend to,” her question makes much more immediate sense.
Mary answers the angel: How can this be. I do not know a man.
If she is betrothed to Joseph, why would she assume that she could not conceive in the ordinary way once they began living together?
It makes more sense to read it as:
I do not have, and do not intend to have, sexual relations.
Protestants: The Pope is not in the Bible! Catholics: What about the part about Jesus telling Peter he is the Rock and the Church is going to be built on him, with him having the power to bind the faithful? Protestants: Well, it's not anywhere but there. It has to be in more than one place. New rule, new rule....for something to be Biblical, it must be written about in 3 different places.
I do not support the death penalty for people in Iran who happen to live in an apartment where a general lives.
OSAS folks have this idea that heaven is given based on one act (faith), done at some point in your life. They do not seem to think ahead and wonder, "If this person, who sincerely believed in Jesus, but is unrepentant, mean, lustful, sinful, enters heaven---what will heaven be like?"
One must be worthy of heaven, because heaven has a set of behaviors that must be followed.
Evil people cannot be in heaven, or it would not be heaven.
If an evil person, bent on evil, enters heaven, and treats others evilly, then heaven would not be heaven. It would not matter if he believed in Jesus.
