Fifteen-year-old Javits came from Ghana to New York with hopes of a brighter future. His father wanted him to have better opportunities, and Javits dreamed of becoming a doctor one day.
But on October 29, 2026, a heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in the Bronx.
While walking to school near East 171st Street and Third Avenue, Javits was shot in the abdomen. Police rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, but despite efforts to save him, the young teenager tragically died.
